This happened yesterday next to my school. I still don’t know anything about how this happened, but we could hear the fire from 500 feet away.

ckck:
Plastic Bag, a short film by Ramin Bahrani (who made the lovely Goodbye Solo last year). Narrated by none other than Werner Herzog (!), with music by Kjartan Sveinsson of Sigur Rós.
A higher quality Quicktime version can be viewed here.
I started watching this because of the Sigur Rós music, but kept watching because of the unexpected story.

Steve Jobs is at the Oscars. I wonder why. Is it because of Apple’s relationship with the Film industry due to iTunes? Is it because he’s the single largest shareholder of Disney (and a board member)?
I don’t know why I’m so interested.
Maybe because he used to be CEO of Pixar?
Yeasayer - Ambling Alp
This might be the tipping point to buy the album. Been looking at a bunch of recent music, and this stuck out.

Egg Jellyfish - March 31, 2008
Miniature Tigers - Dino Damage
Such a strange song, but I love it!
on my profile i’d have all of my events, public/private/or shared with another user. i feel like i have tonnssss of things to plan in advance and i have a physical printed calendar in my journal, but i have no way of checkign with the other person or making sure they remember. everyone’s personal calendars are disconnected and the people i plan things with always have very changing schedules it seems. i have so many small events and hopeful get togethers for random things floating around and i with they were in concrete in both my calendar and the other person’s. okay, someone can make this, but give me some credit. ©, yall.
I think Google Calendar does most (if not all) of this.

“We Like LOST”
“This is a spoof of The Lonely Island song “We Like Sportz” Please watch that and every episode of LOST to understand this video.”
Warning: This video is hilarious.

Really well done and hilarious.
Wow. I just landed my hands on a free license to the Adobe CS4 design suite, which I have been wanting to buy for years.

As flattering as it is to see your own work being appreciated by others, it isn’t fun when you don’t get credit for it.
Via artsandcrafts (who normally is so good at giving credit, it should be noted).
Originally reblogged from artsandcrafts, but not crediting just isn’t cool.
Normally, I don’t ever have dreams that I remember. Years ago I was convinced that I didn’t dream at all. But in the past week, I’ve had and remembered several. I think the key is that school has been cancelled, allowing me to get a regular sleep schedule. The correlation seems to fit with the last dream I remembered, which happened after 16 hours of sleep during Thanksgiving break. And it explains why I’ve never been able to remember dreams before. Now I just need to see if this trend will continue, possibly during the next long break.
On a Mac, you can press command + ` to switch between open windows in an application.

Also, apparently that last post was my 1000th since I started this blog on December 12th, 2007. Wow, time flies.
For some reason I really like this photo. Self-portrait taken while shooting photos for my Where in Silver Spring? gallery.
I have enjoyed playing this game today, even though it’s basically just a clone of Canabalt.
How would you make this sort of thing?
Photos taken with the lens detached from the camera but held in place and moved around to focus. This also lets extra light in sometimes causing light leaks and giving a vintage look and feel. (via Benjamin F)
This reminds me of when I used a reversing ring for my macro pictures, but much less controlled. One of my favorites from this set is this picture.

This technology should have existed a long time ago. It’s very much like being right there in the car (though maybe if you were, you would know why you can drive on the wrong side of the street).

Another video I’ve been thinking about a lot recently.

This is exactly the kind of video I would love to make if I had the equipment. There’s so much that I haven’t explored yet…
Avey Tare & Kría Brekkan — Sasong
One of the most beautiful songs I know of. (The album version is played at 2x speed in reverse.)
Recently I’ve been doing more interface and button design, and this tutorial has been very helpful.
