About me:
Martial arts has always interested me. As a teenager I tried wado-kai karate, tae-kwon do and japanese jiu-jitsu but it wasn't until joining Silent River Kung-Fu in 2005 that I really found my home.
I was promoted to black belt in 2009 and am currently working toward my 2nd degree under Master Instructor Jeff Brinker, 7th degree black belt in Kempo Kung-fu.
Training in and studying the martial arts is my number 1 focus in life. Nothing has given me more purpose or has provided more physical, mentally or spiritual benefit.
Kung-fu is my main focus and passion but over the last couple of years since earning my black belt I have also been able to explore my interest in the grappling arts and have had the opportunity to make friends and train with martial artists in Judo and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
This experience and my daily training and drive to master and understand Kempo and Tai-chi is what I hope to be, the right mix for me to become the best martial artist and person I can be.
Currently I teach in the orange/green belt class and the SanShou Sparring class. I am proud to be a part of the teaching team at Silent River Kung-Fu and I get a lot of satisfaction and joy from transferring my knowledge and passion to the next generation of black belts.
When I am not training I spend time playing guitar, windsurfing or studying and being really bad at chess. I am lucky to have two daughters who I get to spend lots of time with. I am proud to watch them grow up and discover the things that they are passionate about in their lives.
See you on the mats!
