One young man went to apply for a managerial position in a big company. He passed the initial interview, and now would meet the director for the final interview.
The director discovered from his CV that the youth’s academic achievements were excellent. He asked, “Did you obtain any scholarships in school?” the youth answered “no”.
“Was it your father who paid for your school fees?”
“My father passed away when I was one year old, it was my mother who paid for my school fees.” he replied.
” Where did your mother work?”
“My mother worked as clothes cleaner.”
The director requested the youth to show his hands. The youth showed a pair of hands that were smooth and perfect.
“Have you ever helped your mother wash the clothes before?”
“Never, my mother always wanted me to study and read more books. Besides, my mother can wash clothes faster than me.
The director said, “I have a request. When you go home today, go and clean your mother’s hands, and then see me tomorrow morning.
The youth felt that his chance of landing the job was high. When he went back home, he asked his mother to let him clean her hands. His mother felt strange, happy but with mixed feelings, she showed her hands to her son.
The youth cleaned his mother’s hands slowly. His tear fell as he did that. It was the first time he noticed that his mother’s hands were so wrinkled, and there were so many bruises in her hands. Some bruises were so painful that his mother winced when he touched it.
This was the first time the youth realized that it was this pair of hands that washed the clothes everyday to enable him to pay the school fees. The bruises in the mother’s hands were the price that the mother had to pay for his education, his school activities and his future.
After cleaning his mother hands, the youth quietly washed all the remaining clothes for his mother.
That night, mother and son talked for a very long time.
Next morning, the youth went to the director’s office.
The Director noticed the tears in the youth’s eyes, when he asked: “Can you tell me what have you done and learned yesterday in your house?”
The youth answered,” I cleaned my mother’s hand, and also finished cleaning all the remaining clothes’
“I know now what appreciation is. Without my mother, I would not be who I am today. By helping my mother, only now do I realize how difficult and tough it is to get something done on your own. And I have come to appreciate the importance and value of helping one’s family.
The director said, “This is what I am looking for in a manager. I want to recruit a person who can appreciate the help of others, a person who knows the sufferings of others to get things done, and a person who would not put money as his only goal in life.”
“You are hired.”
This young person worked very hard, and received the respect of his subordinates. Every employee worked diligently and worked as a team. The company’s performance improved tremendously.
A child, who has been protected and habitually given whatever he wanted, would develop an “entitlement mentality” and would always put himself first. He would be ignorant of his parent’s efforts. When he starts work, he assumes that every person must listen to him, and when he becomes a manager, he would never know the sufferings of his employees and would always blame others. For this kind of people, who may be good academically, they may be successful for a while, but eventually they would not feel a sense of achievement. They will grumble and be full of hatred and fight for more. If we are this kind of protective parents, are we really showing love or are we destroying our children instead?
You can let your child live in a big house, eat a good meal, learn piano, watch on a big screen TV. But when you are cutting grass, please let them experience it. After a meal, let them wash their plates and bowls together with their brothers and sisters. It is not because you do not have money to hire a maid, but it is because you want to love them in a right way. You want them to understand, no matter how rich their parents are, one day their hair will grow gray, same as the mother of that young person. The most important thing is your child learns how to appreciate the effort and experience the difficulty and learns the ability to work with others to get things done.
And never forget that writing is as close as we get to keep a hold on the thousand and one things…Childhood. Certainties. Cities. Doubts. Dreams. Instants. Phrases. Parents. Loves that go on slipping like sand, through our fingers.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.
Anyone who grew up in the decade of the 90s has tipped their hats to “No Doubt” for the revival of ska music. The band eventually mixed in more dancehall and reggae into their style, helping them gain more success. Amidst all the commercial success and award trophies, I can’t help but notice more of their composition style in which I can describe as “feel good”. Well, that’s all thanks to the Jamaican feel of their tracks.
It’s good to be a 90′s kid.
This May 20th at Mall of Asia’s SMX Convention Center Function Room 1 will be the first event organized by a group of Vocaloid fans and utamitte (cover songs by fans) hobbyists called VOCA★FUSION. The event will have many sorts of activities catering to the fandom related to Vocaloid, one of which is a maid and butler cafe section, the Vocaloid Manor.
The Vocaloid Manor is the brainchild of two eager cosplayers who were driven enough to start something very familiar to regular anime convention visitors but in a more Vocaloid-centric premise. And thus, Secret Garden Kissaten will be hosted on VOCA★FUSION.
The cafe will boast a roster of staff rich in a Vocaloid line of presentation through cosplay. And as such, the staff is purely composed of cosplayers.

Haven’t been much into anything lately (not even anime or manga). Got my hands full of playing Assassin’s Creed 2 and Brotherhood (I know, I’m a late bloomer). While being absorbed by something, I become rather monotonous. And this entry shows much of it. XP
Following the success of Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, Ubisoft filled the fans in with the trailer of the newest installment, Assassin’s Creed III.
A week before the release of Assassin’s Creed Revelations, Ubisoft announced that the fans will be expecting another major release of the title, yet only little info has been revealed. Yet earlier this year, a promotional art of the game was leaked out provided by Ubisoft.
From the cover, it seems that the fight between Templars and Assassins will move on to the American Revolution era with the Renaissance and the Crusades era coming before it, where Ezio Auditore da Firenze and Altair Ibn-La’Ahad (respectively) where the pointmen to Desmond Miles‘s synchronization of their memories from the first four titles of the franchise. This time however, a new ancestor of Desmond, named Connor will be taking the helm as main character of the game.
As the trailer would’ve suggested, instead of running on rooftops or climbing on ledges, it seems much of the free running will be done in snowy forests. This will be a breakthrough as none of the previous titles has ever allowed the player to climb on trees. Nothing is for certain until October 30 of this year, as it would be the expected date of release for the PS3, Xbox 360, PC and the Wii.
I don’t usually lurk on 9gag that much but when I do always find something good to share. Such is the experience of sharing good stuff to people with the same interest or with interests encompassed by a specific niche. This however, aims for the general audience of the internet.
Last June 9th, 2011, Google paid tribute to the father of the modern day electric guitar. At first glance, the page looked like it’s made with rich media (Flash), however such is the magic of HTML5 and JavaScript when coded correctly.
A 9gagger was kind enough to share some key sequences to play to the tune of some famous songs.
I enjoyed playing the “Imperial March“, “The Godfather” theme, and Metallica’s “One“. See if you can try to play some songs you like.
Video above shows two artists from France, Supakitch and Koralie in their collab for a mural piece on a wall in an art gallery. The talent is totally there but you just can’t deny how godlike their brush strokes are. Same goes with their strokes using a marker. Damn.
So it’s only been a few hours after Christmas ended, yet luckily for me, break’s still not over. =)
The old Star Wars fanboy in me rekindled my love for lightsabers when I watched the video of a flashmob in Times Square, Manhattan (New York City) done by roughly around 100 fans to commemorate the release of the MMO game Star Wars: The Old Republic.
I’ve nothing but praises to everyone who participated and to everyone behind this flash mob. The civilians and the Jedi/Sith cladded bunch were doing their part well. They did not falter with their expressions in freeze time.
March 11th of this year was a tough time for the Japanese people who were struck with earthquake and soon after by the tsunami which left people homeless, missing, wounded and worse…killed. This will be remembered by the people of Japan. The world responded to their cries and now the Japanese will remember that everyone looks out for one another.
Thanks to the consistently awesome, Vio, I saw some recommended tips to follow and remember for a healthy and happy cosplaying experience. The original poster, Green-Makakas, is a German cosplayer (who happens to be one of my favorite Lelouch cosplayers around). Do check out her gallery. Her gallery will blow the Geass outta you.
Under the description of the tutorial size of her tips she wrote:
Although cosplay is a wonderful hobby, there are times it can bring not only joy, but also stress, anger and frustration.
Probably almost everyone has already experienced a situation where cosplay just didn’t feel fun. There are several reasons why it can happen and we tried to collect them for one simple reason:
Your hobby is not supposed to give you tons of negative emotions. On the contrary, we all are doing it for fun and should never forget it.So these are a few pieces of advice how to stay positive and enjoy cosplay :3
Sometimes it won’t hurt to just forget anything that’s negative and do things that will just make you smile. The people who deserve happiness are the ones who dare to be happy.
Due to my falling short in speaking/reading Japanese, I can’t even make a slight guess as to what Hatsune Miku is singing about. However, being a sucker for instrumentals, I was drawn in by the intro. Followed by brief accompaniment of a guitar, I was totally sold.
The song’s PV boasts a more darker aesthetic aimed to freak the beejesus out of the viewer. However, I can say that the PV’s animation was well directed. I’m not all familiar with Japanese ghosts and whatnot, so I can’t say anything related to the PV and the such. However, there are some good cosplays of the PV which surprisingly only a handful of them out of the teeming thousands of cosplay photos online. Below are the ones I like.
Aren’t Vocaloid cosplays liberating? You can do so much with it.
