Geeky Math Equation Creates Beautiful 3-D World
This article was published by Wired on December 9, 2009. This is not a new news but I still find it amazing. The first time I saw this, I was like, “WHOOAAH! These are beautiful!”
This article was about the Mandelbulb. A group of math geeks created a three-dimensional analogue for the mesmerizing Mandelbrot fractal. The 3-D renderings were generated by applying an iterative algorithm to a sphere. The same calculation is applied over and over to the sphere’s points in three dimensions. In spirit, that’s similar to how the original 2-D Mandelbrot set generates its infinite and self-repeating complexity.
I don’t usually lurk on 9gag that much but when I do always find something good to share. Such is the experience of sharing good stuff to people with the same interest or with interests encompassed by a specific niche. This however, aims for the general audience of the internet.
Last June 9th, 2011, Google paid tribute to the father of the modern day electric guitar. At first glance, the page looked like it’s made with rich media (Flash), however such is the magic of HTML5 and JavaScript when coded correctly.
A 9gagger was kind enough to share some key sequences to play to the tune of some famous songs.
I enjoyed playing the “Imperial March“, “The Godfather” theme, and Metallica’s “One“. See if you can try to play some songs you like.
Video above shows two artists from France, Supakitch and Koralie in their collab for a mural piece on a wall in an art gallery. The talent is totally there but you just can’t deny how godlike their brush strokes are. Same goes with their strokes using a marker. Damn.
So it’s only been a few hours after Christmas ended, yet luckily for me, break’s still not over. =)
The old Star Wars fanboy in me rekindled my love for lightsabers when I watched the video of a flashmob in Times Square, Manhattan (New York City) done by roughly around 100 fans to commemorate the release of the MMO game Star Wars: The Old Republic.
I’ve nothing but praises to everyone who participated and to everyone behind this flash mob. The civilians and the Jedi/Sith cladded bunch were doing their part well. They did not falter with their expressions in freeze time.
March 11th of this year was a tough time for the Japanese people who were struck with earthquake and soon after by the tsunami which left people homeless, missing, wounded and worse…killed. This will be remembered by the people of Japan. The world responded to their cries and now the Japanese will remember that everyone looks out for one another.
Thanks to the consistently awesome, Vio, I saw some recommended tips to follow and remember for a healthy and happy cosplaying experience. The original poster, Green-Makakas, is a German cosplayer (who happens to be one of my favorite Lelouch cosplayers around). Do check out her gallery. Her gallery will blow the Geass outta you.
Under the description of the tutorial size of her tips she wrote:
Although cosplay is a wonderful hobby, there are times it can bring not only joy, but also stress, anger and frustration.
Probably almost everyone has already experienced a situation where cosplay just didn’t feel fun. There are several reasons why it can happen and we tried to collect them for one simple reason:
Your hobby is not supposed to give you tons of negative emotions. On the contrary, we all are doing it for fun and should never forget it.So these are a few pieces of advice how to stay positive and enjoy cosplay :3
Sometimes it won’t hurt to just forget anything that’s negative and do things that will just make you smile. The people who deserve happiness are the ones who dare to be happy.
Due to my falling short in speaking/reading Japanese, I can’t even make a slight guess as to what Hatsune Miku is singing about. However, being a sucker for instrumentals, I was drawn in by the intro. Followed by brief accompaniment of a guitar, I was totally sold.
The song’s PV boasts a more darker aesthetic aimed to freak the beejesus out of the viewer. However, I can say that the PV’s animation was well directed. I’m not all familiar with Japanese ghosts and whatnot, so I can’t say anything related to the PV and the such. However, there are some good cosplays of the PV which surprisingly only a handful of them out of the teeming thousands of cosplay photos online. Below are the ones I like.
Aren’t Vocaloid cosplays liberating? You can do so much with it.
We’ve already seen the tsunderes and kuuderes. Yet there is one dere, that is perfectly described as “disturbing”. For a good reason that is.
Yanderes at the first blush are nice characters liable to psychotic fits when the right situation pushed their buttons. Conventionally, they’re depicted as cute characters who’d also freak out the audience with the deeds that makes them psycho. Their over protectiveness has gained them a slew of fans on anime, manga and imageboards. I’m one of them, admittedly. This fandom of mine only surfaced just awhile ago.
Yanderes have their own charms, as presented by a particular niche. The “yandere trance” tag used for anime/manga imageboards helps yandere ignorants what they are all about. In the anime, Mirai Nikki, the main heroine, Gasai Yuno, assumed the pose of her having both hands on cheeks, with eyes that will melt most characters (if not for the dark ambiance) and her mouth opened ever so slightly. With this pose, she exclaimed this to the series’s main dude, Yukitero Amano, “Don’t worry, ahn, I will protect you.” Note that I bolded out “ahn” to emphasize the dere of the helplessly love struck young lady.
Adorable and spinechilling ain’t it? Artists used that specific scene of Yuno, to make a tag out of it on imageboards which ultimately will end up a hit among fans and lurkers. They employ this on characters who aren’t even yanderes to begin with. See some of them below.
If you want to see more yandere trance artworks go to any general anime imageboard and search for “yandere_trance”. For Japanese imageboards, look up with 恍惚のヤンデレポーズ. Hope you’ll enjoy browsing through with them as much I did.
For Christmas we all want the material things and we also want material things for other people. But these OFWs are only asking for them to spend their Christmas with their families back home (Philippines). Coca Cola launched their “The OFW Project” campaign where they helped three Filipinos working abroad to be reunited with their families. These people have spent 5-11 years in their respective countries working without going back to the Philippines once. Imagine the loneliness they must feel. Below tells more of their story.
Very tearjerking. We should be feeling fortunate to spend our time with our families while others struggle to spend that one special occasion with their loved ones.
So awhile back, I made it obvious of how much a Hong Meiling fanboy I am. This time, I’ll be featuring some cosplays of Hong Meiling. Some of the features here are of the designs of Meiling in her One Night Stand (aka Advent Cirno) and Koumajou Densetsu: Scarlet Symphony outfit.
And here are, ladies and gents, are cosplays of my beloved China girl that I’ve come across.
Last but not least is my friend’s cosplay of her.
About two weeks ago, the official TekkenYouTube channel, uploaded the preview of the first Tekken animated 3d movie, “Tekken Blood Vengeance”. the 6:46 long video features four of the Tekken roster, namely the Williams sister, Nina and Anna, and the mortal father and son adversaries, Jin Kazama and Kazuya Mishima.
The fight between Nina and Anna can be roughly described in two words: bitch and heels.
To be honest, I was very intrigued in the background story of the characters ever since Tekken 3 and to know there’s a 3d animation following the storyline of some of the characters pretty much feeds my interest.
