I’ve been insanely busy since school has started back up on August 22nd! I’m thrilled to be taking another semester at my local community college. I’m aiming for for a gpa of 4.0 so that I can transfer to another college for their Game Design & Development class. Speaking of Game Design & Development, I have a history paper due in that class. I have yet to choose the subject of the paper, but I’m somewhat excited for it. I’m also going to be working on a few video games for projects in the class as well! Maybe, I’ll post it on here?

The DC Comics panels at SDCC have been filled with what I being told are uncomfortable and awkward moments around the issues of female creators and characters.

Much of this is being driven by a woman attending the DC panels with her young daughter. From people I’ve spoken to the daughter is a tweener — under 14.  The woman is dressed at Batgirl; her daughter as Spoiler. Here’s Comics Alliances reporting on the incident I reported via CBR last night:

On female characters in the Justice League line: A female fan in a Batgirl costume, with daughter dressed as Spoiler, was very upset by what she said was a lack of female characters being featured centrally on the covers in the Justice League line of books. The panelists said they are trying very hard to take diversity seriously in terms of both gender and race. The fan said no such characters were featured prominently on the covers, leading to a somewhat heated and awkward back-and-forth ending with her promising to go count them. The mood of the room was definitely against her, with Lee joking and asking if she wanted the female characters to be “dead center or off-center” on covers.

I heard it was very uncomfortable and the room was aggressively against her. Anyone there to confirm?

Today they showed up at another panel. It was uncomfortable again. David Uzumeri of Comics Alliance said it was the single most awkward panel he’s ever sat in on. I can see why from his story:

On Female Creators: The same Batgirl-clad fan who made appearances at many DC panels over the weekend asked why there aren’t more female creators on DC titles. DiDio said that DC Comics hires the best writers and artists they can, to much applause from the audience.

A huge round of applause, I heard. And certainly not in support of the woman.

Morrison quipped that he looks great in a dress, to which the questioner responded, “I appreciate you trying to brush me off.” Morrison then encouraged women in the audience to submit their work to DC.

CBR reports it this way:

A fan dressed as Batgirl who had been at every DC panel over the weekend asked whether the publisher was committed to hiring more women. Didio said that they were working to put the best talent possible on the books. Morrison asked, “Do more women want to write DC superheroes?” and when many female fans responded “Yes!” he simply added “Then send your stuff in.”

They hire the best. Ah, there’s your answer. And they certainly must know who the best female creators are, right?

Here’s Didio Thursday night:

Now I come to you — what do we have to do for you to change your mind?”

“Hire more women. You went from 12% women to 1% women.”

“Who should we have hired?” DiDio demanded.

Didio was also asked about female characters at the 52 panel today, here’s the exchange via Newsarama:

I appreciate the effort of this woman and her daughter and if anyone sees her thank her for bringing up these questions.

I love that they made the panel feel uncomfortable—if they aren’t going to respond to her questions respectfully, the least they can do is have the decency to feel uncomfortable.

I hate pictures like this. They’re so contrived that it’s revolting. Yet, it does make me laugh because of how moronic they are.

This is our version of a cute date. We sit on our butts at home all day and webcam. There’s no going out to eat, no shopping, no holding of hands, nada. How we spend time together is a little different from how other couples do it. I mean, this is all we can do. Endless webcamming, videogaming, and phone calling. That’s a long distance relationship for you. But even so, we still share the smiles, laughs, and good times. As much as I wish that we could live closer, I don’t hate the distance. Thanks to the distance, we’ve talked so much that we know virtually everything about each other. We keep nothing from each other; there are no secrets. All we have is trust. All we can do is trust. Trust, love, and be patient. Because I know that one day we won’t be separated by a computer screen or these hundreds of miles.

Even though I only work 4/7 days a week, having a social life takes up all my spare time. Between movies, dinner parties, role playing games, shopping, errands, chill outs, and other things I don’t get the time I’d like for blogging, twittering, facebooking, video games, reading, scouting new music, nor baking some amazing goodies. 

I played Little Big Planet 2 for awhile last night, and downloaded a ton of demos on my Playstation 3. My plan is to complete all of these demos then decide from there what games to purchase with my hard earned cash.  

[ Now, I usually just see a trailer, some gameplay, read some reviews, fall in love, then buy the game. For some odd reason I always forget about downloading the demo part. Yeah. That’s how my ADHD rolls. ]

Also, someone asked why I don’t do reviews for the games I play… Anon, I really don’t know why? I think it’s because I’m just an ordinary girl so I like ordinary things, haha.

I’ve been meaning to post for a very long while… A very, very, long while. Awhile back I ordered a few things from Sephora! I’ve had them for a few weeks ago, and I meant to photo them before I used them, but I just couldn’t resist! I also put in a few other things like things I’m reading and playing! :)

I’ve forgotten the name of this palette, but I know it’s an Urban Decay palette. I’m still stalking the makeup world for a Naked Palette.

I’m a mascara whore. I think one day I’m just going to dedicate a complete post to the many different mascaras I’ve used and liked. 

There’s Lancome’s Hypnose Drama Waterproof —- because with most drama some crying is involved.

The mini mascaras are Benefit’s Bad Gal, Too Faced’s Lash Injection, Stila’s Glamoureyes. I usually buy the full tube of Benefit’s Bad Gal but I go through it within two weeks and it’s not the cheapest tube of mascara out there. I thought switching it up would be best. Plus, I already have a full tube of Diorshow. I think I’m alright for a bit of time. 

I don’t think I’ll be re-purchasing the Sweet Pea scent. It used to smell so good to me. Now, it smells like kool-aid to me. 

I actually meant to purchase the Secret Wonderland parfum and the Warm Vanilla Sugar body spray, but my boyfriend was there and he was frustrating me along with the fucking B&BW helper. I honestly just threw shit in my bag and cashed out. 

I believe that Bath & Body Works is too small to have someone try and shop along with you. Plus, I just find sales people to somewhat obnoxious even though I know they aren’t trying to be. With all that being said I do like B&BW.

The nail polish is titled “Spontaneous” and it’s by China Glaze. It’s one of my favorites!

I love the Essie Nail Polish color “Berry Naughty,”  which is really fitting for me. :D The bottle that says Happy Birthday is from Philosophy. It was a free gift from Sephora for my birthday. It smells so good. Just like vanilla birthday cake! Something not free from Philosophy is the Mimosa lip shine which spreads like butter. 

I also purchased these Olay total effects 7-in-1 anti-aging cleanser wet cleansing cloths because they are infused with vitamins and a little help with slowing the aging process down is always nice. Previously, I used the Neutrogena cleansing wipes which I do like as well, but wanted to try the Olay wipes as well.

Warm vanilla sugar lotion from Bath & Body works speaks for itself. It’s popular. It’s yummy. If you haven’t noticed I really like food scents because I can’t indulge in such delicious things all the time! 

I’ve always wanted a shower/bath/beauty/whatever caddy. I walked around Walmart for about 20 minutes trying to find this thing! I’m going to admit that it’s not a beauty/shower/bath caddy but it’s a caddy for cleaning supplies. Yet, it’s close enough and I’m satisfied with that.

I’ve had this wallet for barely a week and I’m already over it. I might give it away once I buy a new one. Hm!

I hid my Nintendo DS from myself and just found it today! I was so excited that I flipped open the top of the DS and just started going at it! I fucking love playing Space Invaders Extreme 2 more than I love Cooking Mama! That’s legit truth right there!
