Chuping.
I have a deep affection with this place in my hometown.
It is so beautiful no matter day or night.
Last Ramadhan, me, my brother and my friends decided to go stargazing
for the few last nights of the holy month.
I have to admit those nights were the most beautiful nights in my life.
The sky was so clear filled with so many stars! I have never seen them that many!
And we can even see Milkyway with our own eyes. Subhanallah. God is great.
These pictures are definitely not enough to show how amazing the memories are.
Till then, hopefully we'll meet again, Ramadhan.
This set is the last set on my blog for 2012. A great year with so many unforgettable memories.
I hope you guys enjoyed this set and hopefully 2013 will bring more meaning and success to us all.

Previously in February 2012, Project Mata Hati for Sekolah Menengah Pendidikan
Khas Setapak (Kurang Upaya Penglihatan) successfully completed and launched
their 1st phase of “Textures & Tactility” art project in conjunction with the
Art Department of Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) and MISC Corporate
Social Responsibility (CSR) Unit. A bunch of students that are visually impaired
were sent over for a few sessions with the lecturers from UPSI’s Faculty of Art,
where they were guided to produce their own masterpiece made out of glass
and ceramics. The results were wonderful and amazing.

As a follow up to the Phase 1 of “Textures and Tactility”, Project Mata Hati once
again came out with a brilliant idea in which this time the students were surprised with
collaboration of Blue Jackets Society and the school. The students were given the
chance to ride a supercar (each student, one supercar) and experience the exciting
moments from getting into the beautifully engineered machines, using their sense
of touch and imagine the lavish interior of the supercar, and to feel the adrenaline rush
throughout the convoy journey up to the North.

On June 16th 2012, a group of 30 students were prepared for the next project of
“Textures and Tactility”. 31 super cars from various huge names; Ferrari, Lamborghini,
Porsche, BMW, Nissan, and a lot more, with their driver/owner under the Blue Jackets
Society gathered at the school compound early in the morning all ready for a Charity
Drive to UPSI. These students were given the chance to choose their ride, and they
were also given a task in which they will later have to ‘document’ this experience
and the feelings they had throughout the fast and speedy journey all the way to the
destination on that day; into the form of clay-art. The main idea of the fast ride is to
allow them explore deeper and express their thoughts onspeed, distance, the wind,
and the pumping adrenaline. Subjective, but they made it well, looking through the
way they moulded the clays given to them, channelling their experience into their
very own version of imaginations, produced another lines of inspiring artwork.
This project will be carried forward to another few sessions and all the artworks
produced will be launched later.

Another successful project by team Project Mata Hati with
Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris; and all thanks to the
Charity Drive by Blue Jackets Society as well.
More to come, InsyaAllah.

11th Feb 2012,
I was invited by Faradiba Anuar to come along
and capture the launching moments of Project Mata Hati.
An exhibition of artworks created by visually impaired
students from Sekolah Menengah Pendidikan Khas
(Kurang Upaya Penglihatan), Setapak.

As expected, I was really amazed by the artworks.
Something that came straight and pure from the heart.
True enough, just because a man lacks the use of his
eyes doesn't mean he lacks vision. Being with them is so inspiring.
They made me appreciate life and everything around me more and more.
This exhibition will be held until 28th February 2012.
Thank you Fara for inviting me and Tengku Fahmi for lending me his camera.

PROJECT MATA HATI : TEXTURES AND TACTILITY

Group art exhibition by visually impaired students from Sekolah
Menengah Pendidikan Khas Setapak. Project Mata Hati is the
Corporate SocialResponsibility programme initiated by Group
Technical Services (GTS), a service unit in MISC Bhd. One of
its aims in this 5 year CSR strategy plan is to improve and better
the skills, education and amenities of the visually impaired students
at Sekolah Menengah Pendidikan Khas (SMPK)Cacat Penglihatan
in Setapak in key areas - namely music, sports, literature, creative art, IT.

Textures and Tactility marks the programme's first art project and
exhibition. Textures and Tactility is a collaboration between The Fine
Arts Faculty at Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, Tanjung Malim (UPSI)
and SMPK Setapak.

SMPK Setapak, today, houses more than 134
students, ranging from Form 1 to Form 5 for in-house learning, the
school is the only Special Education Secondary School (apart from
the integrated programs) that provides the academic platform, specially
tailored for the visually impaired students in Malaysia.

Art lecturers at UPSI and the sight impaired students, together,
embarked in simple techniques exploring clay and printmaking. The students
were exposed to molding, shape making and pattern making to incorporate
into their artwork. As a result the students produced plates, vases and wall
hangings made out of clay and silkscreens on paper.

A total of 55 artworks have been produced/created by the students.

These works
will be exhibited at NN Gallery from 11 - 28 Feb 2012. The works
are for sale and proceeds from the sales will be donated to Sekolah
Menengah Pendidikan Khas(Cacat Penglihatan) Setapak so that they
can further and continue future art projects. Your assistance towards
furthering their cause is much appreciated.
