Dress #21 of Ashley’s project. Kind of crazy how fast this is going. Also kind of crazy that the photos I love most are the photos no one else seems to like.

I did a lot of gloating, but to be fair… it did require five undefeated matches!

Holy crap. I hope you’re sitting down.

I was jealously looking through the Phoot Camp 2012 roster and came across this gem of a self-portrait.

Michael Forster Rothbart, I don’t know anything about you, but I want to be friends.

And here’s Ben and I… enjoying the hell out of our time together.

Here’s one from Canyonlands National Park.

I do this thing where I lose rolls of film and then find them a year later. It’s annoying — but also a lot of fun. Anyway, I just found two black and white rolls from the wedding Ben & I shot in Moab last spring.

This is one of my favorites.

Oh man. These ads are so great. This was one of my favorite creative exercises in school. Click through to see the other ones.

(Thanks, Sara)

And here’s everyone else. I got Curtis The Practical Guide to Knife Throwing and some knives for his birthday, so we setup some targets while grilling. It was safe-ish.

My wife learning how to throw knives this past weekend. I’ve never been more proud.

That’s all I’m saying.

A little something I wrote while searching for my favorite hat

Yellow hat, yellow hat
Where the hell you hiding at
I just want to wear you ‘round with pride

I’d love to put you on my head
And keep you til it’s time for bed
Tell me why the eff you’d want to hide

For the love of God it’s me you see
I just want things like they used to be
I can’t do summer without you by my side

I’ve looked now almost everywhere
My hair know not what else to wear
DAMMIT YELLO— oh there you are

Dress #17 from my wife’s 52 Dresses Project. She rejected the editing in this one (probably rightly so), so I’m posting it on my own. Hey, whatever. I’m just having a good time.

I also took a few color photos for good measure.

Here were the photos I Instagrammed.
(tylerriewer if we’re not friends yet)

Here are a handful of photos from my trip to Chicago this past weekend. Something about that city makes me want to shoot exclusively in black and white. Every time.

It’s too early to be getting excited, but I like where this is going.

Audio

  • Long Shadows by Josh RitterThis song played at the end of an episode of Bored to Death recently. I shazamed it. Then I purchased it. And now I’m listening to it over and over, trying to memorize the words because I’m 28 and I still do that and it’s the only way I might be able to recreate it with an instrument later.I really like this song. That’s what I’m trying to say.

  • File this under ‘keyboard solos that make me want to learn how to play the keyboard.’ It’s from Assembly of Dust’s Speculator — which is the best windows down song on the planet. That’s not an overstatement. Go listen to the whole thing on their website. This is just the solo because the song is over eleven minutes long, and Tumblr isn’t having that.

  • I tie memories to music. Whenever I’m traveling somewhere for the first time or going through a particularly good or bad time in my life, I like to buy new music and soak in it. It’s like stowing all the feelings, thoughts, smells, etc. in a place where I can access them anytime I want. It’s just something I do. I love it. Anyway, this song is taking me back right now, and I thought I would share. It’s from a UK-based duo named Nizlopi. The song is called Freedom.
