The Characters of Igot

—-

Synopsis
One day, Samara, an over-sized and hungry sigbin with menacing eyes, was on the prowl for a delicious kill. Sigbins are known to have young children for its meals.

Scanning the landscape, the sigbin chanced upon the hunter named Igot, who was in pursuit of a baboy damo. The predator sneaked up to its prey, ready to bare its fangs when suddenly, it realized that Igot wasn’t a child but already a full-grown, adult pygmy.

Igot quickly realized the dog’s mistake, and took a risk by befriending it. He urged Samara to travel with him in search of the tastiest. most mouth-watering meal the world can offer. This proposition enticed Samara, enough for it to sacrifice hunger pangs for that promise.

Little did Samara know that this trip was Igot’s strategy to save the children in the nearby village. After weeks of being on the journey together, the unlikely partnership of the sigbin and pygmy unfolds into a story about friendship.

The Forty Story

This is just so good. :) I’m a big fan of Pentagram.

Igot is a pygmy with red eyes. He travels in search for food with Samara, his Sigbin pet.

I’ve had this story for a very long time now, I just decided to create a comp of the 2 characters.

Igot is a fruit I really loved eating when I was a kid.

“Also called bahag, baligang or igot. This fruit species is INDIGENOUS to the Philippines. The tree is medium-sized, 9 meters or more high. The fruits are borne in compact clusters, small up to 20mm in diameter, round, dark red to black, rather dry but of pleasant acid flacor. The fruit is used in the making of preserces, wine, pickle, beverages and jelly. It is a good source of protein.”

It’s Dr. Wily (in the Wily Capsule) and Rockman / Megaman

versushearts:

The Doc and the Rock

Rockman, more popularly known as Megaman was one of my favorite Family Computer games (other faves were Super Mario 3, Contra, Karateka, Twin Bee & Bionic Commando). The title screen soundtrack was also really good!

New on Versus/Hearts. It’s Voldy and Harry. :)

versushearts:

The Snake and the Lightning

I was never really a big fan of Harry Potter, but I read all the books. :) My favorite book was Prisoner of Azkaban. My favorite HP movie was also Prisoner of Azkaban and the other movie where Harry and Hermione danced. I thought it was so artsy. Hahaha.

Can you guys guess what’s happening in this illo? :)
Hint: It’s supposedly a magical phenomenon.

Nice Things

Just sharing some nice things that’s been in my inspiration folder for years now. :) Enjoy!
1. Lockheed Ad
2. AC Ad
3. Martin Ad
4. Martin Ad Illustrated by Willi K. Baum
5. Lockheed Ad by Hal Stebbins, Inc.

He is the fastest thing alive!!! Repeat 3X. :P

The Egg and The Spike

“Too Fast for the Naked Eye, Sonic the Hedgehog…” I used to watched the cartoon series when I was in high school. :) The games on SEGA Genesis were also one of my favorites. :)

RIP Maurice Sendak

I know this is a bit late. I’m currently out of town so I’m not online all the time. I just wanted to honor Maurice Sendak and his works . I’ve always loved “Where the Wild Things Are” that’s why when Cory Gibbons accepted my submission for Terrible Yellow Eyes I was very ecstatic. The two works I submitted were eventually exhibited at Gallery Nucleus a week or so before the movie premiered.

Rest in Peace Mr. Sendak. You’ll be missed.

My submission for Alex Griendling’s Raygun Project: The Jackpot. The gun was inspired by Setzer Gabbiani’s (of Final Fantasy VI) ability called Slots.

The newest gun from Neue Vegas: THE JACKPOT.

It’s easy to use:

New on Versus/Hearts. It’s Thanos and Drax! :)

versushearts:

The Titan vs The Destroyer

Something to look forward to. :) This is for my friends in the US who recently watched The Avengers.

This is the old Drax. He looks different now. Happy Weekend y’all.

General Dynamics Posters by Erik Nitsche

I just had to share these. :) Lovely things that’s been in my inspiration folder for a long time. :) More stuff from Erik Nitsche here.

Versus Hearts is on 9GAG, haha. People didn’t like that I made Android the bad guy. :( It was just a design/illustration decision I had to make because:
1. The droid has a “body” and well the apple logo doesn’t, and
2. If I placed the Apple logo on the left, you won’t see the bite mark - a distinct characteristic of the Apple logo. :/

For those interested, here’s my mobile OS preference:
Windows Phone > iOS > Android :)

Kakashi’s Kamui

Copy Ninja Kakashi’s Kamui. Naruto’s first Sensei. The student of Minato Namikaze.

“Kakashi’s original dōjutsu, released from the Mangekyō Sharingan, that allows one to transfer anything to another dimension. If one spends a lot of time and trains one’s chakra over and over again, this technique can be invoked. The target is enveloped with a barrier space and the user concentrates their mind to what they gaze at.” - Narutopedia

The Serigraphs of Eyvind Earle

Eyvind Earle, is one of my favorite artists. His watercolor and serigraph works are just out of this world.

You can read more about him here.

Trivia. He died on my 18th Birthday.

Nice Things

Space lunch boxes & R is for Rocket by Ray Bradbury (OMG, his works are great) via The Smithsonian. Space Colony by Donald Davies.

It’s Cap and the Skull! :)

versushearts:

Red & Blue

I was thinking of doing Loki & Thor, but decided to go with Cap and Skull first. :) I was never a big fan of Captain America, but I loved the old Captain America cartoon theme.

“When Captain America throws his Mighty Shield…”

Quick sketching an idea so I won’t forget. :) (Taken with Instagram at PLUS63 HQ)

Paperman

I think this upcoming short film from Disney will be magical. :) I love the poster and its mood. :)

Plot outline from Paperman’s Facebook Page:
Introducing a groundbreaking technique that seamlessly merges computer-generated and hand-drawn animation techniques, first-time director John Kahrs takes the art of animation in a bold new direction with “Paperman.” Using a minimalist black-and-white style, the short follows the story of a lonely young man in mid-century New York City, whose destiny takes an unexpected turn after a chance meeting with a beautiful woman on his morning commute. Convinced the girl of his dreams is gone forever, he gets a second chance when he spots her in a skyscraper window across the avenue from his office. With only his heart, imagination and a stack of papers to get her attention, his efforts are no match for what the fates have in store for him. Created by a small, innovative team working at Walt Disney Animation Studios, “Paperman” pushes the animation medium in an exciting new direction.

Brofist!

I still have deadlines, but I just had to do this. Hehehe. :) Took a quick break to finish this illo. If you haven’t watched The Avengers, you should. The movie was really good.

The Hulk was my favorite character in the movie. So yea, here’s The Big Green and the Thunder God bumping fists. :)

Stockholm Design Lab’s proposal for the new Swedish Money is  really nice. :) They didn’t win, but it’s still worth the look.
