William Eggleston is amazing. Skipping photography today since I missed Media due to driving test on Monday (failed).

it’s nice when people do nice things for you though.

i wish i were at SXSW like everybody else and i wish i wasn’t so poor like everybody else.

I think I’m going to spend my spring break smoking weed and listening to Endtroducing….. on repeat. It will be the best spring break ever.

that’s a good shout. i haven’t listened to that album in so long, i always found my favourite to be “the number song”

so it’s finally here, and this is my favourite song from the new record ‘Rock’n’Roll Ice Cream’. but i’ve only listened to it once, so who knows. just spinning it for the second time now. i love this:

    “Down by the ocean

    It was so awesome

    Out of the city

    We all went surfin’

    It was so pretty

    Under the moonlight

    She was my woman”

  • March 03, 06:31 AM

this stuff is fucking SICK! i got this record yesterday and it’s been on near enough constant repeat in some shape or form ever since. it’s ‘A Sufi And A Killer’ by Gonjasufi and i wouldn’t be surprised if he was riding some big wavves here in 2k10. i don’t have a fucking clue what a sufi is, let alone a Gonjasufi, but i know this record is killer. it’s like some crazy noise-gospel, ‘experimental hip-hop’… maybe even lo-go-hop? hahaha. the song i’ve posted up there is SuzieQ, i might post the full album up, but you should probably just go buy it. O.K.? fucking rad.

calculator are a sweet LA/bay area 5-piece “doing D.I.Y. shit”. this sentence alone should be enough for you to check them out.

i’ve been listening to their LP “these roots grow deep” for a couple of weeks now, and it’s quickly become one of my favourite releases of the year so far. calculator have been riding the blogosphere wavves a lot lately, i’ve seen them on a lot of my favourite hxc blogs, but i just wanted to put a different spin on them since they deserve to stand out from the crowd. you know those fuckin’ angry days you get where you step in some shit or stub your toe? calculator gets that. they know you wanna tweemo spoken word samples. they know you wanna sway yr head to a twinkly melody to gather yr emotions, and then let it all out to the dude next to you on the bus like one angry mother fucker. calculator gets that, and they put it on record for you to help you through those shitty days.

so thnx calculator, thnx for helping me understand that life is O.K. when i miss the last train.

“My thoughts are tearing each other apart
In the back of the car
Conversation has probably gone too far
    Keep me guessing
    Tongue-tied and messy
    Don’t make me feel stupid
I’ll do that on my own
You put the key in and
    Just stop believing that
You’ll go to hell if you have fun this evening
Come to me telling me all kinds of secrets
Promises, promise I think I can keep it”

from @blowkissess: “@tommw dude this is not chillwave, fuck chillwave… but its definitely tween friendly”

i think that pretty much sums it up. chillwave is dead 2k10. beach tween anthems are here, and they are KISSES.

this is srsly good, it’s like Neon Indian but not in the chillwave sort of way, fuck chillwave, chillwave is dead. this is surf pop. this is 2k10s beachstep. it’s a dude and a girl making some very nice music that i like alot. i was walking to college listening to their album “the heart of the nightlife” today, and it was like spring had just been born. imagine yrself on a california beach during twilight, in complete silence as u lay against a palm tree and beautiful women emerge naked from the sea… if you were to record that image as sound, i am pretty sure it would come out as KISSES.

  • February 25, 07:43 AM

Los Campesinos! were pretty average last night. which is a little disappointing, as on record they’re definitely growing to be one of my favourite bands. i got the feeling Gareth feels like he’s “made it” now, he even threw in a comment about how the photographers (total: 3) made him “feel important”. the guy is a lyrical genius, there’s just no need to be egotistical about it.

they didn’t really “feel” like a band? they all seemed disconnected, with the little ukele guy popping out of the shadows once to try and find a missing power cord. it just kind of felt like Gareth and his backing band. i don’t think it should be like that, as collectively they’re pretty talented.

the highlight of the night though was definitely upcoming Cardiff noise-wizards Islet. they definitely stole the show, Ed summed them up perfectly: “Blakfish on acid.” they don’t exist on the internet though, NME even did a radar article on them which mentioned they “shun the web”.

Swanton Bombs… they have this whole Japandroids/The Kooks crossover thing going on which might be okay, except for the Kooks part. i get the feeling they’ve been listening to a lot of average indie records but have been trying to breakthrough to Pitchfork. i wasn’t really feeling it.

Desperados is a very good beer and Koppaberg is a very good cider, well done Cresdee.

perfect record, perfect punk rock anthems. just the way i like ‘em.

went to brighton yesterday, bought some wesc oboes and deck shoes. oboes are okay, they kind of crush my head sometimes though. deck shoes are sweet and blue. i have a headache but don’t aim to go to bed any time soon.

Following up yesterday’s De La Hoya MP3 post, here’s for something special for the Internet from me, with love: every De La Hoya song I have. Includes “DANCE! Techno Mega-Mix Vol. 42” full album, “…Has No Credibility” mini-album and 2 songs from “Wipe The Slate Clean… Now Let’s Begin” (if anyone has the rest of it, please please please send it my way, I’d love you forever).

Now to spend the rest of the day doing absolutely nothing at all…

De La Hoya - “The Death of Optimus Prime”

One of my favourite songs by my favourite punk rock band of all time. You can’t really say much about this track other than 2 minutes 14 seconds of PURE FUCKING AWESOME. Aaron Scott has to have been the most influential man in punk over the last 10 years - and I know I’m throwing around the whole ‘so and so is the BEST of the LAST DECADE, EVER!’ a lot lately - but I cannot stress enough the amount of awesome bands who wouldn’t be around if it wasn’t for this guy: Nakatomi Plaza, Marathon, The Exit and pretty much the whole of Red Letter Records’ back catalogue.

    RAD BAND.

Adam M. Crisp is the most exciting musician to emerge in the last decade.

  • February 10, 07:35 AM

    this photo is absolutely perfect.

had my hair cut yesterday. it looks pretty rad. i went for the adam m. crisp post-9’o clock feel. i think it’s working out okay.

after finally finishing my photography project i now have until may to complete my photography exam… and then it’s nothing more but just a hobby. or so i think right now.

i’ve been listening to too much surfer blood and p.s. eliot. there hasn’t been much new music lately although i’m about to give the new lightspeed champion effort a spin… i don’t really know what to expect.

i love you, but i want you to fail

and if you change your mind, i won’t roll my eyes

pretty suckish day. feels like i haven’t really accomplished much. just in one of those moods where it feels appropriate for time to just stop and start rewinding. replay those bedtimes over and over.

currently listening to a bit of shoes and socks off, just ordered the mp3s of the new album from BSM (so who knows when i’ll get the download link, heh). i get so insecure when i feel ignored.

just wanna be done with this week tbh

so good to have 24 back on last night. i was a little bit worried it was gonna turn out to be another season 6, and i guess there’s still time, but i think everything is gonna be okay. it’s gonna be interesting to see where it goes.

i cannot stop listening to Surfer Blood and i am pretty sure i’m gonna kill them soon. gonna “reboot” Teenage Hangover on Tumblr. it’s gonna be rad and yr gonna follow it. definitely.

tonight i might try to do some more in my photography journal. note to self: must get those printed this week. lots of money is gonna be spent. otherwise Hustle is on tonight and that’s fun. might just bum around. might just go 2 sleep

    i like tuesdays

“why is everything such a chore? i’m too young to be defeated.”
  • January 22, 02:33 PM

my new desktop background, it’s Surfer Blood. i started listening to “Astro Coast” today after reading Pitchfork’s review of the record… not that i’m being a sheeple, it’s just been sat in my iTunes for a while just collecting dust so i thought i’d give it a shot. really glad i did - only six songs in, but it’s awesome. “Swim” and “Harmonix” stand out the most. good stuff

my driving test was cancelled today due to “adverse weather conditions” AKA “fog”. i don’t get it? am i supposed to just stay inside my house when it’s foggy in the future? is everyone driving on the accused “foggy road” supposed to turn around there and then? i hate how everything in life is only achievable through a test. whatever happened to just being naturally good at something, or earning something through recognition, not a syllabus.

i think tonight i am going to play some Rock Band and stay up really late.

    seriously though.

i haven’t felt this much pressure in a long time.

hey man. know how you feel. have a 2000 word essay to research, write and hand in all in 12 hours. if it’s five minutes late, i score 0%. this essay is worth 50% of this whole unit. my first year at uni is fucked. still trying to decide which one of six questions to do. suckstobeme.

oh man. i guess it’s always true when people say “there’s always someone worse off than you.” so just think about it george, someone out there does have it worse than that… i guess… some dude’s got about 2 hours for his essay. in his final year of uni. and he fucked up the first two.

tired eyes and i think i’m gonna pass out soon.
