Saw this on digitalbuzzblog.com the other day and thought that I had to blog about this. Great use of mobile and the almost now ubiquitous banner ad. AlmapBBDO in Brazil have however managed to breathe live into this medium. Type in your mobile number on the site and within seconds your receive flight details and your phone becomes a remote control for the on screen aeroplane. The advert finishes by reminding customers that flying is easier when you check-in via your mobile phone.

Carlsberg have done some pretty awesome adverts in the past few years, and to keep that theme running, they have come up with this, Probably the best ad in the world. Find the advert in a publication, rip it out, with a few choice folds it will act as a bottle opener. I would love to see this in in UK…
Alternatively print out the ad here and try for yourself.
This is a nice idea.

I could see this spreading virally splashed across Facebook no doubt. Nice branded content for Puma.
Happy New Year!
Sorry for the lack of posts throughout December, I was being festive and all that jazz.
Anyway…probably one of the most random things I have been blogged about, but still it made me chuckle.
Google 241543903 then hit image search.
You will find this…
Upon further inspection the first image is this…
Genius, utter genius. I am certainly going to start my own cryptic search entry! Apparently the founder is unknown, well so 241543903.com says, yes it even has its own website!
Fun little microsite by Channel 4. Select different words and create your own unique sentence that is delivered by random celebs. Might even make it onto TV, fingers crossed.
Here’s my effort: http://twist.channel4.com/videos/video/4ce44755ae839
As you may or may not know, November marks the time to grow a moustache (Movember). Movember is an annual charity event held that raises funds and awareness for men’s health, in particular testicular and prostate cancer. So to promote this oh-mo.co.uk has been created.
Add a moustache to your favourite website.

Ever wondered where your waste goes when you flush your toilet. Now you can find out this the Flushtracker from Domestos.
Simply type in your postcode and time your toilet was flush and the site tracks the current location using real time data in Google Maps.
Comissioned to raise awareness of National Toilet Day, the site tracks exact position, speed and distance travelled as it navigates the length of Britain’s sewage system.
The point is to amaze you with the huge sewage systems that take care of our sanitation, and thus hit home the message that 2.6 billion people have no such system, meaning their waste goes nowhere causing disease.
http://www.e4.com/misfits/mess-with-misfits/index.html
So the much anticipated second series of Misfits is soon to be gracing our screens, and what better way to highlight this than little a quirky viral campaign. Nothing groundbreaking but a fun video to share with your friends.
Help the M&M’s gang locate Red in the City of Toronto inside Google Street. To help with the search, the M&M’s characters will seed clues to Red’s whereabouts on various social media channels, including Facebook, where the brand has just launched a new M&M’s Canada fan page, I bet they have a few more fans now?
This video is undoubtedly going to be a viral hit. The story of a man told through the Facebook interface….

This clip will have you thinking differently about how products can be recycled and repurposed into useful objects. You’ll appreciate the light that a Pepsi bottle can bring, even if you take your own light bulb for granted.
All brands should be this lucky to have their trash bring light. Thanks, Tricia!

I know more kids under the age of 5 that would school most adults on using the ipad. And with apps like Disney’s Virtual Playmat app why wouldn’t they?
With this app, virtual meets reality in a way that is better than augmented reality. Rather than holding a piece of paper in front of a computer or iPad to see a virtual car, the app allows kids to play with actual car toys from the movie Cars on their iPads, letting them complete missions, races and more.
Even though it’s an app for kids, I gotta say: move over Angry Birds.
Men with short retail attention span and shopping-averse men in Australia have now a solution to escape the pains of weekend shopping at Ikea. And it’s Ikea itself proposing a solution: it’s called Manland and it’s a day-care for husbands and boyfriends who want to take a break from the shopping. The space works exactly like the play-space for kids, wiht a dedicated area in the store offering free hot dogs, Xbox consoles, pinball machines and nonstop sports action on TV.
And the funny part is that there’s even a buzzer to remind girls to stop buy to pick-up their men!
Ikea did a 4-days trial with this idea early this month, but accordingly to the media coverage and the buzz generated around the world, I bet they will seriously think about extending the service to other stores and for longer hours. Let’s just see what will happen when men will start complaining for the highest charges on the family’s credit card!
I guess we can now expect a new range of jokes coming up to describe the men vs women shopping experience at Ikea. Good, I was getting tired of the old ones
via Springwise
The idea is very simple and it’s basically a physical crowdsourced experience. Download the iPhone app (for free), you will get a message, the message will tell you when you should jump. Everyone who has got this app receives the same message, so let’s jump all together at the same time. If you jump at the exact time while holding your iPhone, the device can calculate how high everyone jumps at the same time. When total distance of jump reaches to the distance from the earth to moon, the brand behind the app (still unknown) will give you a special gift.
Download the app here.
I think this may be a first. David Guetta is selling his latest album Nothing But The Beat directly to fans through Facebook, using Facebook credits.
The Infinite Adventure Machine (prototype 01) from David Benqué on Vimeo.
This bedtime story ipad app being funded by Microsoft (called Infinite Adventure Machine) is so absolutely brilliant I'd almost consider not hating Microsoft products. (whoa, there!)
This super cool app takes 31 different narrative elements from tons of fairytales to initiate story plots. The user then uses their imagination to fill in the details, or can reload the page for another story plot. It's like a continuous stream of awesomeness.
SVT (Swedish Television) went straight to Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs in December 2009 while waiting for Apple to approve the company’s iPhone app. Sign-bearing Swedes stood outside Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino, California, asking Steve to help speed up the application process. The Dear Steve Jobs website, dearstevejobs.com, included an open letter to Steve and invited Swedish fans to sign in with their Facebook identity, adding names to the petition convincing Steve of their support. The site featured a demo of the app and live video feed of the SVT reps outside of Apple HQ. Apple called STV execs in Sweden to say they loved the campaign and would try to treat the app application favorably.

Ever thought how silly some stock images look? Well, now you can be part of such silly representation of daily life activities and emotions. Join the “stocking is the new planking” project launched Projekt202. Choose your favorite stock image on either Corbis, Getty, iStockphoto etc… and take a picture of yourself in the same position, with the same camera angle, with the same facial expression. The result is awesome and terribly funny. I can even imagine it becoming a game to do with friends. Kind of a new Pictionary. Check below a few examples, and submit your own photos on the project’s website.
thanks Vincent for the tip.

The Big Ad Gig, a competition to win a 30-day paid freelance position in an advertising agency, is running for the third year as part of Advertising Week 2011 in New York. The event, sponsored by Atmosphere Proximity, The New York Times, Facebook and Microsoft, is being promoted on the Webby-awarded site, www.thebigadgig.com. The website and creative for this year’s event centers on “re creating a moment in advertising history”. Creatives interested in a stint at Atmosphere Proximity, Facebook, Crispin, Porter & Bogusky, Ogilvy and The Martin Agency are challenged to create a video reenactment of a moment in advertising history — the birth of David Ogilvy, the launch of Facebook, or the first time men got dressed in tights and acted like fruit. The call for entries ends August 28th.
Click on the image below to play the Big Ad Gig promo video in YouTube (HD)

Moderator for the third year running is New York Times advertising columnist Stuart Elliot.
Applications close on August 28. On September 1st, the judges will narrow the field down to 16 contestants based on the quality of their videos and online portfolios. At that point, the public will be invited to vote on who should be the eight finalists who compete at The Big Ad Gig in New York.
Selected finalists will be notified and invited to attend Advertising Week from October 3rd -7th in NYC and given access to certain panels and parties. They will also be given the Ad Council Facebook creative brief that will serve as their final exam at The Big Ad Gig Live Event.
At the live event on October 4th at 3pm, in The New York Times Building, each finalist will be given 4 minutes to present their solution to the Ad Council assignment in front of our panel of judges and a live audience. At the end of the event, five finalists will be awarded 30–day paid art director or copywriter positions at one of the participating agencies and companies. One winning campaign will be produced and run on Facebook and various Microsoft advertising platforms including mobile, gaming and online.

In a world where friendship no longer exists off the social internet comes a touching film about a man who refuses to fall victim to the cold, harsh world of social media. A man looking for real connections, in real life, without a computer... The Man Without A Facebook.
Created by Dan De Lorenzo and Ben Stumpf (team Delstumpfzo), this incredibly dramatic and pretty darn funny video is a trailer for a mock movie about an "untaggable" friendship.
It's so well done, I wouldn't be surprised if this actually becomes a real movie someday. Perhaps marking the end of the world?
Lynx’s latest App, The Lynx Stream. Collects all your videos, pictures, texts, tweets and status updates from your friends phones, to create a record of the evening in real time.
Pretty sure this is totally different than the book Connected (although also a must read), but Connected the film looks to be a movie about the way we're all connected to each other and ignoring each other and yet communicating with each other.
