    stay\\ups.

I live in Chicago, and we have one of the best public transit systems in the world. Are there some issues? yeah, but its pretty damn great generally. I am also an avid iPhone user.

One of my most frequently used apps is ‘Buster’. An app that runs off the city’s CTA bus tracker showing me the exact arrival times of any given route Im looking for. (But even then I need to remember to look at it to stay up on my times). How about people without smartphone applications though? Well, enter the CTA txt tracking system. Essentially, you txt the CTA tracking number with your route ID and it txts you back instantly with the closest scheduled time for that stop. done. The system is still in beta, but works pretty well and isnt really all that buggy.

    nooka x gommi

Anyone who follows streetwear anywhere is familiar with Nooka and the fantastic product the create. The nooka x gommi watch is no exception!

highsnobiety reports it as “a twist on the time manipulation device worn by Gommi in the ‘Future-Shock’ comic/manga, written by Zak Hok.”  I personally dig the hell out of this piece. if only I could find a purple face. [nooka are you listening?]

EyeWriter: Physically Paralyzed Artist Draws Graffiti (on Buildings) - information aesthetics

The truly amazing EyeWriter [eyewriter.org] project is part of an ongoing collaborative research effort to empower people who are suffering from ALS (short for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) with creative computational technologies.

Members of Free Art and Technology (FAT), OpenFrameworks, the Graffiti Research Lab, and The Ebeling Group communities have teamed-up with a legendary LA graffiti writer Tony Quan, akaTEMPTONE, who was diagnosed with ALS in 2003, a disease which has left him almost completely physically paralyzed, except for his eyes. In this project, a low-cost, open-source eye-tracking system was developed that allows him to draw graffiti just using just subtle eye movements, from his hospital room into the real world.

Next to the incredible technical achievement of drawing graffiti tags from a hospital room onto a remote high-power facade projector miles away in downtown LA, it is also amazing to see how his personal visual style could somehow be retained, even when drawn solely by eye movements.

More information can be found at the project website, on the documentary movie or the @EyeWriterTwitter account.

    alejandro\\ingelmo

I cant say that Alejendro Ingelmo had a stoke of genius w/ these. But I CAN say that I just plain NEED those grey ones! The rest of the collection is (IMO) pretty wack, but Im lovin the idea behind them.

Ive been diggin the grey sneaker thing for a while, and these would be the perfect addition to my arsenal of ever growing ‘sneakers to copp’ list..  LOVE these grey ones.. SO retro future.

    chrysalis\\begin

So here I am, on the cusp of my largest project to date. Chrysalis. My newest music endeavour. Over these next several winter months Ill be taking on the challenge of creating my most emotionally saturated body of work Ive created thus far. I almost have all the tools in place. Im now running a macbook pro w/ logic 8. Im still in need of a midi keyboard, but Im ready to learn and get to work. I have no shame in admitting ‘Of Porcelain’ is my main musical influence on this one. Yey, it will be mine. Much to do…

    creative\\context

Well, Im just about two weeks into my dream job and life has turned around! Within the two weeks Ive been with Blueprint Design Studio, I have learned more about the working creative process than I would thought possible. I am now operating on my first Macbook Pro! Its ease of use is dramatically simplified, and my workflow is straight up, more efficient. My design skill has made quite the leap as well. Having deadlines and specific tasks is a great way for me to operate and nearly forgot how much I am abel to excel when given parameters to work in.

Another great part of this, Im really making a contribution to the company and the clients. I have met the Vice President of Sysco. This friday Ill be attending a photoshop masterclass.

    Blog update to follow.

    start\\dreaming

As my first post, Id like to define some goals I have.

Im an artist. Always have been, and as such Ive found the need to evolve over time. Develop inside new mediums and progress in old ones. Several years ago, a friend of mine introduced me to graphic design. At the time, graphic art was becoming a trend, and I decided it’d be a great time to learn. Info was being made freely available, and software was becoming more open sourced and finely tuned. Simply put, I fell in love. Realising Im not/have never been one to write code, I chose to keep my graphic art more static based. Printwork being my fortè. Having some experience w/ marketing, I ventured into logo interpertation and design. Several years have passed, and today I have my first meeting at a downtown design firm.

I want to be a full time graphic artist. This, is my first step.
