Clever diagram from creative marketplace Vitamin Talent. According to it, the three main skills you need to have, learn or hire are: coding, design and social marketing. Wealth, good looks or luck don't hurt either.

Holidays give me a chance to be craftsy. Recently, a friend hosted a wonderful valentine-making party, with all kinds of goodies like beautiful paper, stamps and fancy scissors. Here are some of the results.
Simple cardstock and paper with a great pattern makes it really easy to produce an elegant card
So do some pre-made shapes with ribbon and a sticker
I think I like making envelopes even more than cards. This is a single sheet folded around a card, trimmed and then taped into place.

I got a lovely new bike a few weekends ago. It's a 7-speed Globe Daily and is a lot of fun to ride. Compared to the super-light used road bike I've been using, it's much better for a casual ride around the city and won't fall over when I load up a basket in the back for errands. I went to a couple of bike shops in SF on a rainy Saturday. I was initially going to get a Public bike, but fell in-between sizes. I was then taken by the beautiful Globe Live, with its stylish front basket, but the Daily ended up being hands-down the most comfortable ride. I also don't need a basket most of the time, so it's nice to not have it in the way.
It's a completely different experience being upright and cruising instead of speeding around heads down on a road bike. The only issue I've had is that the chain will bounce against the chain guard on bumpy roads. Hopefully that can be improved with some adjustments.

The flatness and subtle groove of the keys is just right. It makes technology a little more organic.

What a great idea!
Move-It: the stick-on recyclable cardboard trolley (video)
If you're rockin' the suburbs, chances are your Suburban comes in handy when making those weekend jaunts to Home Depot. But if you're a city dweller, particularly one who has to make his / her way up and down subway stairs, things are just a tad more difficult when it comes to transporting purchases. Enter Move-It, a bloody brilliant concept that has currently been entered into the running for the James Dyson Award in the UK. Put simply, this recyclable, disposal and potential reusable device is crafted from cardboard and fully capable of strapping to any size or shape box. Simply peel and stick the handle to the box's top, and slap a pair of rollers on the bottom -- in about three minutes, you've got your very own trolley. Prayers, answered. Hop on past the break for a video demonstration, and hopefully the collective crossing of fingers will enable this thing to actually hit the market someday soon.

I come across a lot of articles about nice interior design, but this one really caught my eye as a style and atmosphere I'd actually want in my abode. I love the mix of warm wood, white light furniture and the fancy chandelier. From Design Sponge.
