Part two of a series of ink artworks used as visual accompaniments to compositions that I am working on at the moment. As I always use parts of past tunes in new ones, these works present visual analogies to this process, as ink that seeps through from previous pages forms the basis for each new page of artwork…

phenomenal collection by Cosmogramma artist Leigh McCloskey, gets especially great at the bottom…
couple of great EPs by filthy ingredients and DTCPU that should be checked out for that higher level shit…
after the frankly incredible Murcof + Francesco Tristiano bristol jam show, the Dybbuk Quartet were inspired to create this piece blending binaural field recordings the heavily treated electronic neo-classicism…
The newest piece from Blank Slate co-founder Sephirot working at the nexus between the LA beat scene and spiritual Jazz…
Safe to Jay from Beat Dimensions for linking us up…

On the second release from Blank Slate Records The Dybbuk Quartet explore the legacy of one of the greatest musicians of the twentieth century, and indeed of any century, Bill Evans. Their creation is an Evans tribute triptych, three pieces exploring some of the themes of Evans’ work whilst refracting them through the Quartet’s rootsy, Jewish aesthetic. The resulting mini-album is full of both passion and understated beauty.
Much thanks to Jacques Carolan for providing the stunning artwork, for more of his work see:

When the Neon is Flashing by Sephirot
new tune up with influences from Mr Fingers and Floating points…
word the EP made it onto the latest news section of digital tunes, check!
Omar-S despite being around in the music game for an age, consistently producing quality music during this time; has only really blown up in the last few years, due mostly to the praise of his recent work notably “Psychotic Photosynthesis” and “The Further You Look - The Less You See”. These two soulfully addictive tracks have Omar massively repping the Detroit house/techno scene along with the likes of Anthony “Shake” Shakir and the more recent talent Kyle Hall.
So we thought we’d bring him to your attention if you hadn’t heard of him already. These should definitely get your feet moving, give them a listen as they are seriously recommended!
Promised land
Shit is that our promised land over there
No surely not thats blot on a world map that fares
So badly in peace terms surely my vision fails
How can that be holy with all the blood that assails
My senses surely I’m looking through splintered lenses
That can’t be right
Two Semitic peoples attacking their own defenceless
In senseless needless silence a feel a loss
Which no moment amount of shining media sheen can gloss
Over bodies dropping like when autumn leaves begin to fall
And it shoddy when we’re all just nodding at the Wailing Wall
So words fail me but that of the greatest wailer should do
Feel the power of positive vibration that can flow thru,
your veins, & don’t feign that you can’t see the tree of life withering
When you’re getting down & quarrelling every day I’m envisioning
A schism, like a valley growing wider
As the glacier drives the icy feelings deeper the divide us
But glance a second at what sits across the negotiating table
& if you’re able remember peace is no fable
Nor a foible in all my lucid dreams
Surely we’re here to Tikkun Olam isn’t that what covenant means?
Shit, is that our promised land over there
So why can’t we promise in this land not to fight as other nations stare
So I’m sick of egos with inflation levels like Zimbabwe
& I’m tired of empty gestures
Like taking away old empire titles from Mugabe,
So why isn’t love in our repertoire
Rather the hearts of these men look like the inside of an abattoir
But so far I’m not better, no go getter
No jet setter I just attempt to spit my spiritual vibes
The chime & vibrate in harmony when I hear the peace cries
So a part of me dies at the demise of ceasefires
And I eat, sleep, drink that desire
That one day we will share the promised land together.
Tightrope - Janelle Monae
Boasting imaginative choreography and a cool minimal style with a feature from Big Boi, the new video is a great supplement to the song “Tightrope”.
Touted as a “female Andre 3000 or Kool Keith” Janelle’s debut album Archandroid is soon to be released next month, watch out if you don’t know her already!

Second release for Kilawatt, and they’ve produced a hefty second record with Eric Lau the genius behind it all. After a few years since his New Territories album, the London based producer has honed in on the details and impressively developed his distinctive Neo-soul, Hip-hop sound. Featuring tracks with Oddisee and a beautiful number with up and coming Muhsinah and the very talented jazz pianist Kaidi Tatham.
Big
Now for something completely different… this is me performing an improvised klezmer piece (a Doina) live in Bristol Cathedral with Howard Davidson, Professor at the Royal College of Music, for Holocaust Memorial Day 2010
just to give an idea of a more jewish music meets hauntological electronic soundscapes kinda project thats coming up over the next year
More fire from this guy and ridiculously he not even 20 yet, mashing Detroit styles with UK rhythm patterns to create a colourful, intoxicating. Hyperdub come correct…again!
Peerless.
