Summary
So i saved my money and enrolled myself in the summer series glass courses at Red Deer college. I came out amazed and in love. I now sought a job. I knocked and knocked but nobody was home. It wasn't until Robert Held noticed me sweeping his floors for free and showing up "just to watch the guys work" that landed me a job. Fast forward seven years later.. and I'm still going. I didn't go to any fancy glass school, but I've asked and watched and learned a hell of a lot more working with so many glass artists. For that I am thankful. Cheers and enjoy my site!

So, this summer was kind of a bust. After feeling puking at work one day i went home sick. Three hours later i was getting an emergency appendectomy. Fun times. So that was four weeks off work and even longer off my bike. Summer in Vancouver was rainy and blah. We got maybe two good weeks of sun at the end of August. i had a quickie getaway for a wedding in Kelowna ( which was AWESOME) and recently went to Harrison Hot Springs for a weekend. I also became the proud aunti of Evan James, born August 6th. I am in love with this little man! I’m so proud of my brother! it’s strange watching a sibling take on parenthood, i still picture him destroying my Barbies.
Then came the wind, the rain, and the darkness that is Vancouver’s fall/winter. The silver lining is that it’s my busiest time of year for glass! YEAH!

Where did the time go? Christmas was a very busy season for me this year. I worked at Capilano Suspension bridge with Malcolm and his “Totally amazing glass” show. we set up outside the Trading Post gift shop and held workshops. The icicles were the biggest hit this year. It’s a whole new ball game teaching kids how to blow glass. I had to pay attention to their every move. Plus I realized how sucky it is to be that short and stand face level with a glory hole. haha. Some were terrified.. others were better than the parents. But ALL wore gloves ;P
In January I was invited to work full time at Bocci Design and I accepted. I think it’s a great learning curve for me. I love working with Mitch Wren and Jeff Holmwood. They are both so talented! i’m learning so much from them both. Mitch has been helping me with venetian goblets, and has become a glass drill Sargent of sorts. they are coming along nicely…. slowly, but nicely. Jeff has engulfed himself in murrine, the alphabet to be exact. It’s fun watching what the “letter of the day” is going to be and seeing ENORMOUS spiral cane pulls take form. I’ve learned a lot ( and burned a good sweater doing it) about pasteralli pick ups and roll ups. As well as grawl making and incamo. If these words make you blink and stare.. please email me and i’ll give you the low down on the techniques.
I’ve starting designing a hot air balloon in glass and mixed media. I’m working with sterling silver fixings and chains. I’m making the balloon out of glass, every colour i can get„ all swirled together. i’m still wondering about the basket… should i keep it glass? or maybe go wicker? or weave something? what do you guys think? I’m trying not to make the balloon to heavy… there are going to vary in size as well. i will play around a post some pics soon. But email me if you have any suggestions.
i promise i’ll keep you informed! take care and be kind to one another!

THis weekend (November 17- 21) i’m working at the Circle Craft Christmas Market. IT IS SO MUCH FUN! I will be at the BCGAA ( BC glass arts ass.) booth teaching christmas ornament workshops with MalColm Macfayen. I also did a bead demo today. The oxygen was acting a little strange but i made a few funky polka dot beads! Thanks to Chambers and Shacfer for stopping by!
FR/SAT : 10:30 -12:30 - Christmas Ornament Workshop. $45. You’ll get to have a chance to play with this molten lava, and make an ornament of your own to show for it! Don’t worry, i won’t let you burn yourself. and the c ball will look so good you won’t believe YOU made it!
SAT 5:30 - PAWSON on the big screen. I will be doing a live demo on stage! i’ll answer all your burning ( haha get it) questions and make something “oooo and awwww” worthy. i’ll be making a bowl and then popping corn in it and serving it. i will also make an art piece…. come check it out!
the hot shop is a great place to be on a cold day!
P.S: it’s snowing here… well kinda raining too… but that means christmas is almost here! get your cball orders in ASAP! $10 each!!
Any questions.. please email me from the contact section located on the home page in the lower left corner. CHEERS!!
Monday October 11th. 2010.
Happy Turkey Day! I hope everyone is stuffing their faces. So, today I’m thankful my brother Trevor taught me how to maintain my website! now i can pitter padder and get this baby up to date!
so news eh? Well… i’m currently working at ROBERT HELD ART GLASS and we’re getting ready for our Pre-Christmas sale on November 5th - 7th. There will be glass demos including cooking with glass and a live band and Friday the 5th. The entire weekend will feature work from artists from the BCGAA (British Columbia Glass Arts ASS.) with more demos! Also i will be doing a demo at the Circle Craft Christmas Market at the NEW Vancouver Convention Center November 17th - 21st. Show times to follow. I also hope to have a good amount of items for sale! Shows times TBA.
Because I’m a little busier this year with the two sales, i am only making Christmas ornaments per order. so if you’d like to give some a gifts. please let me know ASAP. They are a cheap $10 each this year.. and i can do an assortment or specific colour combos. Canuck balls are $25 each cuz’ they are a little trickier.
HOPE EVERYONE HAS A GREAT LONG WEEKEND!
