The home aquarium has needed a good clean for a while, and yesterday I undertook the task. We have a few fish that have been with us for a few years, but the tank needed restocking to add some colour and interest to a neglected setup. We got a pair of these Koi Angelfish and they seem to be doing well.
I feel a fish painting phase coming on.

This was done in the Artrage app with my Wacom stylus.

This iPad painting was done from a photo taken from our trip to Glasson Dock near Lancaster. The tide was out and this stranded boat with its lovely blue, just cried out to be photographed. There was another nearby but it’s position was not as photogenic.
This was painted in Artrage as ever with the Wacom stylus.

This is the second iPad painting of a bovine nature in two days. I know it sounds weird, but they have such paintable faces. This one posed a bit of a challenge as it is nestled in grass and trying to paint the foreground without it looking false was a bit of a challenge. Not sure it is quite there but I am happy with the overall result. This was painted in a kind of digital watercolour style rather than in a simulated oil fashion as the previous painting.

This painting could be the start of a new series I feel. Farm animals lol. I enjoyed this very much and the cow has such an inquisitive face. I used Artrage for this painting and the Wacom stylus. I used my usual method of adding lots of colour then blending it to form the shapes. This is a similar method to oil painting. The beauty of iPad paint is it never dries, so it can be moved around until the painter is happy.

Trying out a new app with this painting. This was drawn with Sketchtime. It is a lovely app and the sketching experience is really fluid.

I think there will be more drawings done with it as I enjoyed this drawing.

A different bird for this subject and not one that has visited the garden, although it would be great if one did.
This was painted in Artrage with the Wacom stylus.
Not much detail in this one and it was painted quite quickly using the oil brush with lots of blending.

The Robin is one of my favourite garden birds. It is great to see it in winter with snow on the ground, but there is something nice seeing it on a summer day. This was painted in Artrage using the Wacom stylus.
I still have a few more of these to go yet until I have painted all the birds that visit our garden.

Second iPad painting of the day. Blue tit this time. We get lots of these in the tree and they are a favourite of mine. I love their little chirp first thing in the morning when we have the bedroom window open.

Missing painting the birds from the garden. This is the long tailed tit. They are great, as they arrive in the tree and onto the bird feeders in a huge gang. They hang around for 5 minutes then leave as quickly as they arrived. They are a lovely colour and are well named with a huge tail.

This was painted in Artrage with the Wacom stylus.

Something a bit different this morning. I have just come back from art group and we were using watercolour paints for a quick exercise. Afterwards I decided to keep on with them and came up with the tractor painting below. I have a love hate relationship with watercolours and I am determined that I won’t let them beat me. However I do need to allow them to do what they want and understand that the beauty of them is that they will use the paper how they want.

What I wanted from this painting was Tory and get a true watercolour effect by adding wet paint to dry paper and to use the transparency of the paint to get the layers. I am quite happy with this painting as it does look watercoloury (made up word!)
