This is my first attempt at a portrait on the iPad. Tis is supposed to be a painting of Fearne Cotton. No reason for painting her really other than I have just been watching her on UK tv programme ‘Celebrity Juice’ where she is very amusing.

The painting turned out quite well for a first attempt and I do think I will try further portraits. The ability to just pick up the iPad and go is really appealing to me.

Thanks for looking…

This, the latest of my iPad paintings is a night view of one of the best places I have ever visited. I had the opportunity to work here for a while and fell in love with the city. I produced this as my mind has been drawn back to KL as four friends and colleagues have just moved here with their families to star a new life and establish an Asian arm of a company I do some work for. Wish I was back there in the heat at the moment!

Back to the iPad for this painting. This image is from the place where wo took our holiday last summer. We had the best holiday ever in Parga in Northern Greece. This painting sort of makes us want to go back.

Painted using Artrage with the Nomad Brush for iPad.

It was back to art class tonight and time to do a ‘real’ painting. I have been producing lots of iPad images and this proved to be a nice change. I am not a flower painter normally, and I don’t do insects either, but I really enjoyed producing this.

Thanks for looking.

Just had this image in my head today and enjoyed putting it down on the iPad this evening. I used Artrage for this and my Nomad brush. I am enjoying the blending tools in the app for producing water and reflections.

Thanks for looking.

This painting was adapted from a photograph by David Hunt. I just love the colours and the contrast with the sky. It took about an hour and a half on the iPad using Artrage and the Nomad brush. This is probably my favourite so far.

Thanks for looking.

This is my second iPad painting of the day. This subject is Scarborough, one of our favourite places. We had our honeymoon here and come back as often as possible. The last time we saw this exact view was on New Year’s eve.

Thanks for looking.

The latest Artrage iPad painting came from a cloud doodle again. The distant hills and snow in the foreground just cried out for a path and a fence. The picture looked a little bland even after adding the tree. The puddle with reflections just seemed to bring the image to life. I must say that I am really enjoying the iPad for painting and I do worry that I will forget how to paint with traditional media.

As ever, thanks for looking.

This painting is my first attempt at an iPad watercolour. Again this was done using the Artrage app, which has loads of settings for achieving a watercolour effect. I think I will take a while to suss out all these settings as they do very different things to the existing paint.

This quick painting was produced using Artrage and the nomad brush. This started off as a study in cloudy skies, and the mountains and lake just seemed to appear as a natural addition. The trees on the lake shore are probably the weakest part of the painting. The top and bottom however I am happy with.
