Former Black Panther Party leader and Godfather to the late great Tupac Shakur, Elmer “Geronimo” Pratt died yesterday in his home in a small village in his adopted country Tanzania at the age of 63.
Pratt’s lawyer Stuart Hanlon, who helped the icon who wrongfully spent 27 years in prison after being convicted in 1972 of fatally shooting schoolteacher Caroline Olsen gain his freedom, told The Associated Press on Thursday that he learned of Pratt’s death through the former activist’s family members but did not know what caused his death.

Hanlon shed some light on Geronimo’s feelings towards the legal system that wronged him, “He had no anger, he had no bitterness, he had no desire for revenge. He wanted to resume his life and have children,” he said. “He would never look back.”
