The Honorable Sleaze
The Honorable Sleaze is an American rapper from Richmond, VA. Sleaze is known locally as a skilled emcee/producer, as well as Co-President of the netlabel Just Plain Sounds. Sleaze's music has an "everyman" quality, and he focuses his attention on the issues pressing to his community.
Sleaze regularly performs in many of the areas top music venues, including The National, Alley Katz, The Camel, Strange Matter, The Republic, VCU, The Baja Bean Co., Current, The Nile, Addis, Tropical Soul, The Canal Club, Hadad's Lake, as well as others.
Sleaze has shared stages with the likes of: Just Plain Ant, Ohbliv, Black Liquid, Myka Nine, PROP ANON, RAtheMC, Suburban District, Elle Maxwell, Intalek, No BS Brass Band, Beast Wellington, Photosynthesizers, The Boom Bap Bullies, Louie Valles, Millz, Tabi Bonney, Farma Wesley, Nitty Scott MC, Ms. Proper, OMO, Cobra Krames, The Higher Fives, etc.

- 15 tracks (45:11)The road to completing this album has been a long, twisting sort. Originally conceived in 2009, I wrote this project directly after writing my last full album ((Hear)), My Dear. They were set to be released together; needless to say, that did not happen., I felt like This Funk was something so totally different that it needed to stand on its own. The ((Hear)), My Dear album was so deep in it’s intentions to be a tribute album to Marvin Gaye, I eventually felt like the sound of the album wasn’t my own. On This Funk, I tried new song concepts, rhyme schemes, sampling techniques and overall envisioning of how I wanted it to be perceived. Basically more of me went into it. So I hope you enjoy what I have created as much as I enjoyed putting it together.

I wanted to use most of these beats on a sampler project, sorta like a beat tape. But I just felt like I needed to rhyme and let people hear where I was coming from. Most of the songs remind me of lazy days or off-the-hook nights we experience in this crazy City of Richmond. I had two weeks off from school so I said what the hell and just dropped the joint. Recorded in my house, raw as fuck, all soul. I mean, we used to fuck around and record vocals through the headphones on to tapes and just pass the lil' tapes around like we was sweet. I'm trying to bring that fun back. That spontaneity. That love. We was kids, happy as fuck that we could do something we liked. It didn't hurt anyone. And it was honest. - 11 tracks (46:49)Mom's Spaghetti Incident is a mash-up project combining the raw-yet-humorous lyrics of Eminem with the powerful hard-rock of Guns N' Roses. I always wanted to remix Eminem, who is an excellent wordsmith. I just felt like the hardcore sound of Axl Rose & Co. best suited the sound I was going for. Most of the beats are direct samples from Guns N' Roses' final album containing the full original lineup, The Spaghetti Incident?. The rest of the samples come from GNR's breakout album Appetite For Destruction.

- 14 tracks (41:30)As the title suggests, it will be dedicated to the best game ever created; The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. As if it is possible, I really identify with the green guy. You know, being that he isn't real. But that game came out in a time where things weren't so great in my home, so it was an excellent form of escapism. Nothing like slicing up imaginary villains instead of ice-picking the parents...anywho. All that said, the most fascinating aspect of the game was the extraordinary score attached to it. the music was bananas! I remember being more interested in the damn tracks than beating the effing thing. Needless to say, I beat the thing(albeit, a few years later on a new console to boot), but the music never left my mind. Cut to 2009 - I started playing the game again and the old memories hit me like a mack truck. I know I had to use these songs to tell my own story. The same way they helped tell the story of Link.
