If there’s anything I love more than a taster album, it’s a free taster album. This has almost all of the fantastic artists on GTB Records and without a doubt is well worth downloading.

Track 1 is Tasting Menu by Spinning Voices. This is an excellent way to start an album – I immediately got hooked on this track. It’s got a wicked funky baseline with an interesting, gritty distortion over the drum track. While there are certain elements of repetition in this track, it never gets dull. The synth carries a simple melody - it doesn’t sound like it would be too out of place on a Gameboy, but without quite falling into the category of video game music. Somehow it’s richer, more intricately layered; almost Tobacco-esque in feel.

i’m quite proud of how this album ended up turning out. i don’t think i’ll make anything this unabashedly all over the map again.
