I’m a media professional with experience as a journalist, lecturer, social media editor and digital media project manager. My areas of interest include consumer technology, digital media, music and books.
Until April 2013 I was Head of Technology (Editorial) at Telegraph Media Group, which is a rather unwieldy way of saying that I managed technology coverage for the group.
I left the Telegraph through redundancy and while my next move is uncertain, I'm looking forward to some interesting conversations. If I can help you or your business, please contact me through LinkedIn, Twitter or my website.
I started at the Telegraph in 1998 as a music writer and went on to become online head of news and the Telegraph’s first communities editor before taking over the technology team. I left briefly during the first dotcom boom to become editor of an internet radio station.
As well as the Telegraph, I have been published by T3 magazine, the British Journalism Review, Harvard University's Nieman Reports and the RSA Journal.
I teach technology journalism as a specialism at City University and have lectured Sheffield University and Cardiff University journalism students. In addition, I’ve appeared on TV and radio, including BBC Newsnight, Sky’s Jeff Randall Live, Radio Five Live and the World Service.
Specialities: Internet, Journalism, Newspapers, Blogging, UGC, community
Teaching under-graduate and post-graduate journalism students.
