Typography & Brand Enthusiast.
This was my first experience at a smaller agency and simply put, it was awesome. The best part about the farm is the relaxed homestead environment where everyone does whatever they need to do to get their creative juices flowing. The younger farmer base was really helpful to me as an intern as everyone wanted to give me as much hands on experience as possible. I was able to work on both real clients and with other interns to create a cohesive campaign. For the real clients, I was given the chance to do some writing, design, and overall creative input in the brainstorming process. I also helped as a production assistant in the Production Farm. As one of the twelve seasonal farmers, I participated in the creation of a youth voting campaign.
I mainly worked under the senior copy manager. I was given creative briefs by the account planners daily to work on advertising copy. The briefs ranged from corporate ads to trade ads to entertainment/news ads. I did my own research, submitted copy lines, and brainstormed with other copywriters. I was also given the task of gathering insights and research for the 2008 summer Olympics in Beijing. During my time with the NBC Agency, I applied for another internship program within NBC Universal called the Coast2Coast Program. Coast2Coast offered the opportunity for one intern from both the East and West coasts to switch places for a week. I was one of twelve finalists.
I was one of several student interns that helped with the public relations and communications operations of the Syracuse University athletics department. I assisted with updating statistics and their website, transcribing athlete interviews, and collecting press clippings for SU athletic teams.
I wrote ten trade advertisements for this financial magazine.
