Finally got out with my D3 today... it's been a while for one reason or another... It was a good afternoon with a light mist and some nice late afternoon light in the park

I recently read an excellent book by C.J. Chilvers and have included a short passage below, number 10 in his 10 principles for rediscovering what matters.

Be Grateful
The one antidote for the jealousy that leads to the obsessive buying of gear and chasing of fame is gratitude.
The fact we have the gear we already have, vision clear enough to appreciate beauty and the knowledge to capture it, makes photographers the luckiest people in the world.
While others let beauty pass them by, we recognize it, experience it and share it with the world.
Is there better way to fully live a life?
I was playing around with the 50mm f1.4 this morning... it really does make some interesting photos out of nothing...
I was able to get out briefly today to grab some quick snaps... This is the first time I've been out with a camera for a while and it was good to get some shots even though this was just the GF3 rather than the D3 on this occaision.
This lake shot was taken at Claremont Gardens in Surrey... edited in NIK software Color Efex 4
I was able to get out in my garden at the weekend and shot some simple compositions for stock. The light was pretty good and this years crop of pine cones was looking photogenic :-)

I just had an article published in Advanced Photographer Magazine...
The Article is Titled 'Dawn Delights' and is in Issue 11, October 2011 out now. I've got 2-3 pages of wording and 3 pictures in the article including a thumbnail shot on the cover.
I've been Beta Testing NIK Softwares Color Efex Pro 4
It's looking great and should be available very soon.
