Pirate Prude
After a long two year hiatus, Pirate Prude (moniker for singer/songwriter Mark Freifeld) has returned to recording music.
Beginning in the early part of 2010, Mark began working on recording covers of songs that he enjoyed playing. The songs served as a vehicle for catharsis while going through a personal, tumultuous relationship. The final product is called "Under the Covers."
Some of the artists covered on this album include the likes of Kristin Hersh, Knife in the Water, Daniel Johnston, Liz Phair, Nina Nastasia, Neko Case, and brilliant newcomer, Anna Calvi.
There are also two new original Pirate Prude tracks, one of which is the new single for the record called "Firepatch."
The record is available for free download on SoundCloud.
Pirate Prude will be playing at the Orpheum in Ybor City on Friday, January 13th. Doors are at 7 PM. Tickets are $9 online and $12 at the door. They can be purchased at http://www.aftonshows.com/pirateprude
