Who could resist dressing their infants up in Nietzsche apparel? What a perfect way to express to the rabble at the park how little meaning there is in playing on a see-saw ever since God died.
By the way, all my shirts are now available for miniature humans so you don’t have to choose something totally inappropriate for their social development. There are plenty of perfectly reasonable designs that won’t confuse them or their playmates.

“
More complicated is the case of Paul McClintock’s Idealised Asymmetrical Self-Portrait (sic); he is the one who observed that it is the last year he can be considered young. Here we see a young man’s face, wearing some kind of cap or hood, looking at us with the rather blank stare of one who is scrutinising himself in a mirror. Whereas Morrow manages to look out at the viewer with a quizzical if contained engagement, McClintock is caught in the loop of self-absorption.
What is particularly interesting about this work is, once again, its sexual ambiguity. It is obviously the face of a young male, yet the youthful beard seems only to emphasise the big eyes and full lips, while the backward tilt of the head, reducing the prominence of the nose, lends the whole face a still more feminine quality.

I have been shortlisted in the National Youth Self Portrait Prize for 2009. My portrait will be on display in the National Portrait Gallery in Canberra from the 24th of July until the 13th of September 2009 along with the other fourteen finalists. The grand prize winner will be announced on the 24th of July.
If you’re in Canberra during the exhibition, why not pop in and loudly exclaim how wonderful my entry is? You can make a big fuss about how much it deserved to win (regardless of the outcome), and perhaps throw a chair at one of the other entries.
Currently, I’m still organising the print. It would have been done today if not for a faulty USB drive, so check back here for more information closer to the event, as I grow more and more panicky by the minute. -

industrial bleach as cancer and HIV cure
“The product instructs consumers to mix the 28 percent sodium chlorite solution with an acid such as citrus juice. This mixture produces chlorine dioxide, a potent bleach used for stripping textiles and industrial water treatment. High oral doses of this bleach, such as those recommended in the labeling, can cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and symptoms of severe dehydration.”

EatSleepDraw feeds my ego.
A sudden spike in views and followers can mean only one thing - my picture has finally made it onto EatSleepDraw. Trying to calculate the awesomeness of this is pointless, but I have a giant stalagmite on my stats right now.
It takes about a month to get through the gajillions in line before you, but it’s a great way to plonk your art in front of eyes.

Wild dogs that commute from suburbs to scavenge in city The clever canines board the Tube each morning. After a hard day scavenging and begging on the streets, they hop back on the train and return to the suburbs where they spend the night.
Experts studying the dogs say they even work together to make sure they get off at the right stop — after learning to judge the length of time they need to spend on the train. The mutts choose the quietest carriages at the front and back of the train. They have also developed tactics to hustle humans into giving them more food on the streets of Moscow.
Dr Poiarkov told how the dogs like to play during their daily commute. He said: “They jump on the train seconds before the doors shut, risking their tails getting jammed. They do it for fun. And sometimes they fall asleep and get off at the wrong stop.” The dogs have learned to use traffic lights to cross the road safely, said Dr Poiarkov. And they use cunning tactics to obtain tasty morsels of shawarma, a kebab-like snack popular in Moscow.

From Examiner:
On May 29, a 37-year old Maldivian citizen named Mohamed Nazim stood up during the Q & A period of a religious lecture given by Islamic scholar Dr Zakir Naik, and announced that he did not believe in any religion. The audience of 11,000 Muslims reacted violently with many calling for his death and some physically attacking him. The police intervened though and Nazeem was led away to the second block of nearby police building Iskandharu Koshi. There a crowd gathered outside and demanded the police give him to them for beheading. Instead he was whisked away to an undisclosed location, still under arrest. His apostasy was both a state and religious crime. Under the Maldives Constitution, no one can be a citizen unless he is also a Muslim and many Muslims, including the lecturer Dr. Zakir Naik, believe apostasy from Islam merits the death penalty.

Up to 20% off my shirts, hoodies and art. Help me out by reblogging, and I’ll send you the code - but be quick, offer only available for a week (a bit less now). Let me know about your reblog to make sure you don’t miss out.
disclaimer: If no one takes me up on this offer, I may well remove any evidence of this shameless attempt at self promotion, embarrassing as it is. If you don’t have a blog, or your computer has fallen out a window, asking nicely for the code will also work. - June 14, 05:57 AM

Fun project: Bec and I went for a walk, took some photos of the neighbourhood and now I’m drawing desperate and/or homeless animals onto them. These two feature a suicidal cartoon bear about to jump off the Collingwood flats and a homeless Alligator living under the Epping/Hurstbridge train line, begging for gazelle but only receiving loose change.
Bec is going to further enhance this by printing the sketched parts onto card and photographing them separately in a studio setting and then compositing them back together… or at least, that’s the plan. Other concepts include a grizzly bear scrounging through a recycling bin and a pelican perched on a beam in a back alley beside a flooded drain.
