What started out as a good intention has led to a lot of slugs and snails getting extra fat on all the seedlings in my tiny greenhouse. We lost everything but potatoes (more on them next time) and one little radish. Now we are back with small sealed incubators and i’m please to say we have strong seedlings bursting through the soil. There are courgettes, tomatoes lettuce and 3 types of chillies, Jalepeno, Hotwax and Scotch Bonnets.
I submit to you the best photo I could take of the last pitiful radish to survive, I plucked him yesterday as I noticed some little crawling blighter has bored a hole in one side. Oh well.
Rochester is beautiful. We all know that. The historical buildings, the river scene; it’s all been photographed and painted so many times and rightly so. There is a photographer in Medway, going by the name of Obee, who continues this tradition but adds a new twist. Obee’s images have a traditional feel but, by using a variety of techniques such as time lapse, creates a more surreal look, making those images that we have all seen so many times suddenly feel more mysterious and elusive.
Many thank to Mr Crow for joining me today in a long cycle through Cuxton

Taking advantage of my brothers visit to Kent I encouraged him to go for a drive with me and view some of the Kentish coastline. Starting at Whitstable we walked part of the shoreline taking a few shots of some boats before heading up to Herne Bay with rumours of a half sunken pier standing lonely in the sea.
A 4 minute exposure using the IR technique I had re-kindled my love for recently gave the silkiest finish to the sky and sea below. Next was the weather worn Clock Tower which was the first structure ever built purely for time keeping in Britain. This wind and sea battered Portland stone masterpiece stood defiant as though the more mother nature took of it the more character it would collect.
Over in the distance we see what looks like a church climbing slowly into the sea and decide in classic Goonies fashion to go get a closer look. All i can say is Reculver Towers was one very pleasant surprise. I don’t think I have ever been in a church (and once a fort) so close to the sea and so I wanted to do it justice with a black and white shot.
I think Margate shall be my next destination, might as well keep going in this direction, my enjoyment for capturing Kent’s landscapes clearly has not ended as I’d planned.
Peace

Saturdays stroll through Rochester High street. Only took my pocket camera to just soak up some of the atmosphere as the festival kicked off. Enjoyed many a few ales accompanied with a very large homemade pork pie. Pure bliss. I submit to you one of the many Sweeps festival Morris dance groups. Pretty Grim

Moon is at its nearest during a full moon this weekend. 5th, 6th May
It was either 1993 or 94, I was walking through Wimbledon common a while after sundown when I was struck by a sight that made me think the world was ending! Through the trees I could see what I thought was the moon crashing into the earth, It was abnormally large, and I truly mean large. I never had a camera then, told my folks when I got home, never was believed and forgot all about it. But guess what? Its a real event! Yes and the basic science behind it is simple, as the moon rotates around our earth it is sometimes a lot nearer, and sometimes it happens on a full moon.
Well the good news for all you photography fans is that this Saturday and Sunday night around 21:30 [UK Time] you will get to see this celestial event as it passes onto our horizon. A good tripod, slightly higher ISO and the widest aperture should get you some great results. Don’t miss this, it will blow you away.
Peace

I’ve realised that I have come to prefer wordpress to host my blog. I will keep this account open to aid redirection. I can be found at Twitter & Facebook pages too under obi3380. Many thanx
Wimbledon common is a bewitching thing in my life, i grew up there, spent most of my summers in there, i can close my eyes and imagine routes throught the forest as i know it so well. Christmas day myself and my father get up early to catch a few shots before breakfast incase all the snow has gone lol (highly unlikely). I’ve not used HDR on the common and could not wait to take pics of areas I had dreamt days before. I think everyone has to have one place (or two) that they can go to in their mind, somewhere they find peace and comfort and visit every now and then.
The latest wave of snow hit Medway today and brought the towns to a sliding stop. Met Becca in strood and grabbed a few shots on the walk home.
Enjoy
Despite having a terrible cold I finally got the strength to fire up Photoshop and look at the shots I took of the castle grounds during the fair that has been on this week. It’s not always easy to get clear shots at dusk without a tripod, lots of people moving around and three exposures per image lol but I feel I got some good practice shots all the same. Although i don’t want anymore snow I keep hoping to get a winning shot of a white blanket view between Cuxton and Wouldham over the Medway before spring. Wish me luck.
Finally the snow hit Kent these last few days bringing most of the towns to a grinding stop. Virtually no post has being delivered and everyone seems to be out sliding down hills and slipping on their arses. Me however grabbed my camera for some much needed Hdr photography as i have had very little experience with processing HDR and snow combined. Been tricky but overall photomatrix has come through with a decent blue tint that stops the snow falling from looking like specks on a dirty lens. 3 shots we’re used for each image with 1.fs bracket.
We arrived in the castle grounds where they we’re slowly building the tree and the market stores. The bright orange wood was illuminated by strip lights hanging inside waiting to be assembled to the roof. The overall effect gave a nice contrast to the bluish haze of all that snow. I’m hoping to get some icicle shots if possible.
It’s turned very cold te last few hours and not much of any ice/snow has melted. Rooftops often are the first things to melt from central heating but every house I can see today still has a blanked. I just love snow days. Peace
