There is an update in the data returned by Google API Geocoder service.
The International Road Assessment Programme (iRAP) has published safety ratings for selected roads in Peninsular Malaysia. The maps are published in several PDFs, which is kind of cumbersome if you want to compare between different road user groups.
It seems that the GDirections service for Malaysia has been enabled back by Google after a one year disappearance. The direction to my office page - created in 2007 before the service was pulled - is now working. Luckily I did not take out that page hoping that the service will come back. Thanks Google.
There is an Interesting article by Sean Gorman on the history of web mapping.

It comes to the time of year again when the rainy season creates havoc to road users. Landslides and floods are common occurrences which can cause lots of detours in our trip plans. Tried to take a look at Garmin Communicator API if it can easily save waypoints from the web directly into my Garmin MobileXT on the SD card of my Nokia 6110 Navigator. The API can read my data when connected to the phone via bluetooth, but cannot write. I keep getting this error message:
Invalid type for call to gdx::Device_t GetIntf. So I connect to the phone via USB instead and it works. I wonder if this is a limitation of bluetooth or the API itself.
