Nettra Pan

This photo was taken when I was 17. We took a short break during our road trip from Phnom Penh to Kampong Som, Cambodia. The warmth and optimism of these Cambodian children continue to inspire me every day.

It’s not how good you are; it’s how good you want to be.

This quote from this book makes a pretty good lock screen for my smartphone.

For 11 years, women engineers introduce 1million+ young women to engineering > Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day, 2/23 @robogirls http://ow.ly/9cwbP #eweek

Mind-blowing: In the 80s Bernard #Kouchner was having drinks in St. Germain with Sartre, Foucault, Brigitte Bardot… How much the world has changed since then!

Outside our classroom

Tonight, we were the lucky ones. In the top photo, I am with him in the same quartier. Regardless of your politics, you must admit — what a career he has had! A unique but truly inspiring figure and perfect gentleman.

Great article about him in the New York Times in ‘08 (yes, it was pre-Arab Spring, pre-Obama, pre-DSK scandal, pre-Merkozy, pre-Euro crisis, but still!) showcases M. Kouchner’s role in international politics. Read it here.

The reality of suffering must supersede ideology.

James Traub on Bernard Kouchner’s thoughts

Excellent article on an exuberant man history will remember. Note that the article is a couple of years old, a lot has changed since then. #understatement

Dare. That’s #1. #2 is educate yourself, improve your skills…and feel confident about it. There will be other women to help you.

Christine Lagarde, IMF Managing Director, in response to Sheryl Sandberg’s question: What kind of advice you have for young women?

She goes on, “It wasn’t the case in my days, or there were very few instance where other women would help other women. I think that has changed enourmously. You would help people, I am helping young women.”

Are beautiful women with small dogs a 21st century Western fad?

Check out this bas-relief from the 12th-century temple Angkor Wat for your answer!

Sheryl Sandberg hosts a quick interview with Christine Lagarde at Davos

They talk facebook and the economic crisis.  The future of growth and innovation in both cases will historically excluded members of the global population: women and the developing world.

Wonderful noontime bike-ride with Christopher and Serena held many lovely surprises; one of which was finding out that Barclays is sponsoring the Occupy Movement! :D (Taken with instagram)

Happy Valentine’s Day! Got this rose from a handsome man who works at a French supermarket. Excellent advertising strategy. Made me
smile, plus people kept asking me who my lover was and I told them the story with a smile, mentioning the name of the store. (Taken with instagram)

Loving the @intlworldhist website for the dual MA/MSc program in Int'l World History. Simple, clean, straightforward + love the artwork!
