Lots of progress on the house

The last couple of weeks a lot of progress has been made on the house. The inside has been painted, equipment has been installed in the technical room and the bathrooms are almost finished.

Next up is the floor on the 1st floor, placing the inside doors and placing the wall sockets for the electrity/network cabling. Also work has started on the landscaping, with more to come next week.

It really starts to feel now that it is going to finish soon

    Another long overdue update

Over the last couple of weeks finally some visible progress has been made. As you can see on the pictures, all the walls and ceilings are now ready for painting. Also the stairs and the glass around the gallery has been installed. The stair construction is metal, the steps will be covered by wood. However that will be done completely at the end, when all the workers have left.

Started as well is the work on the tiling. The toilet downstairs is completed. Also both bathrooms upstairs are almost finished. And the laundry room floor tiling is finished. On the ground floor you can see the black tiles on the pictures as well. It looks really nice.

Around the house a lot is happening as well. A well is created (5 meters deep) that will be used for watering the plants in the garden. Also work has started on the fences and the leveling of the garden with the house. And last, but not least, you can see on the pictures there is a big hole. That will be the swimming pool.

Let us know what you think. All comments are welcome.

What has happened the last couple of month

Sorry for not keeping you as up to date over the last couple of month on what has happened on the building front. After the house had been built in the middle of December, not much happened over Christmas and in January due to the weather. Below are some pictures of what happened since than.

    • As you might remember from the building, there was no garage door yet. This was placed end January.
    • In the beginning of February the electricians entered the house and installed electrical, tv and networking cabling.
    • Inside canalization and some parts for toilets where installed end February and beginning of March by a group of plumbers.
    • Last week a company drilled a 130 meter hole for the heating system. The warm water from this hole will be connected to a heat pump, which in turn will provide warm water and floor heating.
    • And end of last week the workers that built the house in December returned. They are now working on the facade, rain pipes and the roof.

Pictures of all of this, and also one of the storage space on the roof are below.

    Video on Youtube

Our house is visible in a couple of movies on Youtube, made in December and January. It shows the whole Monarska Alej area, so you can also see the houses around ours. The car that the movie is made from, really slows down when passing our house. Probably because they are surprised that the house is now there.

    The stairs

Some time ago we made a visualization of the stairs, seen from upstairs. We are getting in the stage now to make a final decision if it should be like this. Have a look at the pictures and let us know if you like them or what could be improved.

    View the house being built

Over the days that construction was happening, I put a video camera in my car, which I just left running. I’ve now created a small movie that shows the building process in high speed. Unluckily the battery in the camara is not so good, so I only managed to capture some parts of the building. But it does give a good view of what was happening.

    Flying Family

In October Magda’s family flew into the skies over Slovakia to view the villages and cities in the area that they live in. It has been some time on my camera now, but I finally managed to make a small movie of it. So if you’re interested in viewing Slovakia from above on a sunny day here it is.

Day 6 – View of Gallery

Today work continued on completing the roof. Below are a few pictures to see the progress.

To have a better view of the inside, here is a Photosynth view of the gallery on the first floor. This allows you to virtually view the gallery from all sides. The pictures are made on day 4 and 5, so on some you will already see a roof, on some still a clear sky. You will need to install Photosynth to be able to view it.
