- May 15, 13Rovio Entertainment's long-awaited Angry Birds movie appears to be taking flight. The company on Wednesday announced both a distribution partner and a release date for the film, which is described as a 3-D animated comedy:Sony will be the global distributor of the film. "Sony impressed us with their great attitude, determination, and professionalism. They convinced us that we have found the right partners and team to help us market and distribute our first motion picture," said Rovio CEO Mikael Hed in a press release announcing the deal.The company announced in December 2012 that the movie was slated for a mid-2016 release, but had no stated distribution partner at the time. Despicable Me producer John Cohen will produce the film. Former Marvel Studios chairman David Maisel, a senior adviser to Rovio, will remain as executive producer.

Subscribe - May 09, 13"Microsoft is considering a purchase of Nook Media for $1 billion giving the company access to its e-readers, tablets and e-books, according to a report.Citing internal documents, TechCrunch reports that Microsoft's plan would build on its $300 million investment in Nook in 2012 and take current co-owner Barnes & Noble out of the equation. TechCrunch also reports that Barnes & Noble had planned to phase out production of its Android-based tablets in 2014 and instead let others — including possibly Microsoft — produce Nook tablets.Microsoft has already committed an additional $180 million investment in Nook to develop content for Windows 8-based tablets. Microsoft currently owns 16.8% of Nook, a separate entity that B&N spun off last October.A deal for Nook would appear to suit both parties. B&N is reportedly interested in getting out of the hardware business while Microsoft is looking to give consumers more reasons to migrate to its so-far tepidly received Windows 8 OS and give the company a greater foothold in the online publishing business.Reps from Microsoft and B&N could not be reached for comment on the report. B&N's stock was up more than 27% in pre-market trading on the news. Microsoft's stock was flat and seemingly unaffected."

- Apr 24, 13"Evan Long's "The Columbine Cause" is a feature-length video presentation based on public domain government records related to the official "investigation" of the Columbine High School shootings of April 20, 1999.
It includes quotations from suspect interrogations and witness interviews as recorded in little before publicized police files, 911 recordings and other rare items.
The documents reveal that many corroborating reports from Columbine High School students, faculty and others directly conflicted with the conclusions presented in the Sheriff's Office Final Report concerning the attack timeline, the weapons used and more:
"[Columbine High School cafeteria witness Brandi Wiseman] said that they could hear the gunmen reloading their shotguns and other guns in front of the door and then begin shooting at what she thought were the appliances in the kitchen. [...] She said that she had her watch on and that this occurred at approximately 1230 hours."
"[Columbine High School student Kristen Schoenhoff's] two best friends were out in the senior parking lot retrieving something from one of the girls' cars. They saw two gunmen, both of which were neither Dylan or Eric. [One of them ...] later identified one of [the gunmen] in the yearbook [...]. She looked in the back in the [Trench Coat] Mafia Dedication and found him in the picture."
"[Columbine High School] class of 2001 and one-time [Trench Coat Mafia] member Alex Marsh said she left the group in about December of '98 because of their propensity for violence. Specifically, Marsh told classmates that she knew of the attack having been planned since at least that time, and was overheard stating that if she hadn't left the group, she probably would have been in on it with them."
Were these discrepancies merely the result of chaos and confusion or did the witnesses experience something very different than the authorities presented as their findings?
