Currently I have more important things to be writing than jolly ol’ STNF. I’ll still be updating ReelEyes, procrastinating Tumblresque on Miles Westwood and socialising banally on Twitter. See you there. MW x

How ever so nautical. Do you think she’s called Svetlana? Definitely a likelihood. She’s got those hot and high waisted shorts, which are seriously cute and this chick digs a photo-op, check the bent knee, she’s been shot before. Matching detailing with the brass buttons and necklace keeps everything in check and perfectly balanced above some deck shoe inspired sneaks. Hands up who loves hot weather!

In a previous job, Friday afternoon was spent drinking Cava in the gaffer’s office… she’d send me out for three bottles that’d be shared between a tiny workforce, the nights that followed were good times. Why am I telling you this? The betty above is Stephanie La Cava. That’s why.

Anyone else thinking getaway sticks? The look  is the epitome of dirty blonde. Trench dress on legs to the neck, on stacked high sandals – basic, but bold execution.

There is I feel a movement against Stussy, nothing strong, just a mild distaste. I don’t think it’s big or important even, but as it goes I used to flog the brand in a skate shop and always quite like their cut and designs. This is a particular pleasing example with sociological and humanitarian concerns conveniently crumpled into a logo.

Coachella is, in the amounts of eye-candy that spew from the memory cards of those willing to sling a SLR over their shoulder, an odd mix of desperation and paradise. Two of my favourite things.

As seen through the lens of Mr. Newton.

Ankles are a powerful part of the anatomy and being able to be recognised by them is a good thing to have going on. Such formal footwear, solid and serious with that exposed joint offering a bit more than you expect with the intrigue of the inked bee and all halo-ed by a frayed hem of denim. It makes me want to talk…

I got a thing for these tees from UNIQLO. Just simple and straight-forward, but with a little bit of sass. Don’t mind Shini’s Radcliffe jeans either – on the money for sure. Via Park & Cube.

It’s not the heavyweight champion I really wanted it to be. Ides Of March doesn’t have the knock out punch, and I feel if it went up against anything really tough it might be found to have a glass jaw too. It holds the attention and there is drama, but there is in reality no consequences to characters actions, at least that the viewer cares about. One moment does contradict me as things fall apart and the most innocent of the players becomes the inevitable victim. Mostly though it just wasn’t mean enough. It needed more in the way of Alec Baldwin cameo’s, think The Departed and Glenngarry Glen RossThat ‘fuck you, you’ve been found wanting’ attitude is sadly lacking.

Even having studied the genre flicks that Giallo plays on and therefore having a vague understanding of what’s going on, I still found my desire to do something other than watch this film very high. I basically spent the majority of its runtime wishing it would end, this is not a good thing. If I were to be more constructive than this, I would say, ‘this movie is awful’.

It’s official, Drive has one of the greatest elevator scenes ever given over to cinema. The love that this film received makes me happy, it proves that people still know what cool is – cars, scorpions on jackets, toothpicks, head-stomping, Ryan, Carey, electro and pink titles that remind me of Cocktail

Bellflower is a proper fucking movie! Part Greek tragedy, part young male apocalypse in LA, all blood, guts and no backing down. I loved it, and the knuckle duster wearing nitrous oxide fuelled horse it rode in on!

Yet another shallow sequel The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day is found wanting. There is enough here to make it entertaining, but the power and the pride of the brothers is lost in this follow up. There’s no hand breaking to escape cuffs or ripping toilets from the floor with your bare hands, it just lacks something that was there before. The first instalment was a knee to the groin, glass to the face, headbutt while you went down and a gob in your bleeding face once you’d hit the deck. The sequel’s more harsh words and being held back by your mates…

As one might expect The Hangover Part II is weaker than it’s predecessor, nevertheless there is the odd genuine laugh. Despite this it’s not even close to as fun as watching Very Bad Things, a film that prides itself on following through, where as this barely touches cloth.

Here’s what I reckon. A film called Cowboys & Aliens should be fun…

There is a lot of Timberlake and Kunis flesh on show in Friends With Benefits, which is enough to keep most interested. However, what this film thinks it’s doing, is playing with the romantic comedy genre, just like Scream did with the horror game. And if I’m being kind it does do this, but half-heartedly at best and thus not nearly enough. Instead it’s rom-com with some jokes that could have either of the leads winking to camera after them.

An intense tale based on the facts surrounding a killing spree that took place in a small New Zealand town, Out Of The Blue is drama and documentary in the mould of Gus Van Sant’s films that do the same. It lacks the creative and lyrical styling of these, but still forces the viewer into serious contemplation, while stimulating empathy in a dogmatic manner more than any other medium could hope to do so.

January 31, 05:15 PM

In Time is a very poorly executed reworking of Logan’s Run. The main problem I had was that the trailer made the film seem interesting and exciting, sadly the bits of the film that weren’t in the trailer added nothing to viewing experience, in fact if anything they detracted. Also on the comparison, this film doesn’t star Michael York or Jenny Agutter, another major flaw.
