At Magma, we are designers and Letterpress printers simultaneously. Our knowledge of the printing press, paper, ink and design we are able to make smart and unique designs to make that are great for Letter Press. Our enthusiasm for Letterpress, combined with our expertise and passion for design, typography and illustration makes we each project, large or small, work with heart and soul. We mix 16th century craftsmanship with modern technology, so we create work that makes an impression! — Magma Press
After graduating in 2002 I worked in a small design shop for a year before I opened my own business in 2003. In January 2009 I decided I needed something new and moved to NYC. I love typography, illustration, projecting and, in general, the process of idea generation. — Ana Gomez Bernaus

ARTIST STATEMENT
We live in a world obsessed with image. What we look like, what our clothes look like, houses, cars… I like to counter this obsession with superficial appearance by using X-rays to strip back the layers and show what it is like under the surface. Often the integral beauty adds intrigue to the familiar. We all make assumptions based on the external visual aspects of what surrounds us and we are attracted to people and forms that are aesthetically pleasing. I like to challenge this automatic way that we react to just physical appearance by highlighting the, often surprising, inner beauty. This society of ours, consumed as it by image, is also becoming increasingly controlled by security and surveillance. Take a flight, or go into a high profile courtroom and your belongings will be X-rayed. The post arriving in corporations and government departments has often been X-rayed. Security cameras track our every move. Mobile phone receptions place us at any given time. Information is key to the fight against whatever we are meant to be fighting against. To create art with equipment and technology designed to help big brother delve deeper, to use some of that fancy complicated gadgetry that helps remove the freedom and individuality in our lives, to use that apparatus to create beauty brings a smile to my face.
To mix my metaphors, we all know we shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, that beauty is more than skin deep. By revealing the inside, the quintessential element of my art speculates upon what the manufactured and natural world really consists of. — Nick Veasey

Matei Apostolescu aka beaucoupzero, freelance illustrator digital artist, always freestyle.
Matei’s work, a fusion of different media: drawing, vector, photography, manipulation, even clay modelling … attracting constant attention and praise over the years, due largely to his ability to turn what at first glance may appear to be pure randomness and chaos into a revealing and strangely soothing visual experience.
His creations have been described as ‘incredibly dense, exploding with intricate detail and filled with swirling, wildly complex shapes that compete for attention.’ Yet his approach is simple: “I believe in freestyle. To me inspiration is having the courage to explore the world, and especially yourself and the processes that take place in your own mind. Magic stuff starts to happen by itself simply by translating your experience from a medium to another. I see style as something in a continuous evolution.”

Jack Sinclair Letterpress Studio — Identity and various print materials
When beginning this project we felt that in order to properly brand a letterpress studio, homage must be paid to the age-old discipline of letterpress printing. Letterpress has a very rich history, and the logo alludes to that history by referencing the union badges that letterpress printers were once a part of. To further supplement the logo’s authenticity, we restricted our type choices to those that physically exist as lead type in the studio’s type collection (we used Alternate Gothic, Clarendon Bold, and Hellenic Wide)…

Coffee Duck by Gaslight type foundry
Gaslight-type-foundry is collaboration between two type designers - Valery Zaveryaev and Roman Shchyukin, founded in summer 2011 year. Type design is our hobby. Hobby, that carry us completely… almost. Our purpose is design quality typefaces with supporting Latin and Cyrillic characters, for using in various kinds of design.
This is logo for small shop, which trades coffee. Logo and concept are inspirited by small shop at the beginning of 19 century, where quiet and comfort valued much more than bazaar. In this shop we tried to build up domestic comfort with peace and silence.
We love coffee. We love typography. We love design.

Steve Wilson takes the spirit of 80s New York, combines rock imagery from the 70s, and squeezes it through a brain full of circuses and tribal body art. Steve’s techniques are as eclectic as his influences, harnessing the spontaneity of pen, pencil, collage, and play-doh, with the endless possibilities of tools like Photoshop and Illustrator. — Breed London

In the most general sense, my work is about landscape. I grew up with the desert southwest as a backdrop and was visually taken by its sculpted topography; how the layered strata of the rock formations came to be exposed by erosion from wind and water, and how the incremental and chaotic effects of time and climate could conspire to create something more orderly than I could with my hands … — Shane McAdams

Technically these guys aren’t all Army men, some are Soldiers and Marines. But they are all true to the original Vietnam era Louis Marx & Co. toys you grew up with … with just a couple differences. These GOOD ART HLYWD versions have had their heads substituted for a Jack Skull #1, and these suckers are solid Sterling Silver … A drop of crazy glue on the base and you can keep your own security force perched atop your monitor and looking over your shoulder.
