During the summer of 2009, I interned at Bryan Christie Design in Maplewood, NJ (now in New York City) working closely with Bryan and his associates to create 3d illustrations for various clients. Pieces that I worked on were featured in IEEE Spectrum, Maxim, PC World, Medicine at Michigan, and Zeit Wissen magazines, among others.
While working at the studio, I was responsible for conceptualizing sketches for client approval and then creating and altering illustrations based on the demands of the client. Additionally, lots of teamwork was involved, as I was art directed by Bryan and worked with Joe Lertola (formerly of Time) and lead illustrator Jeong Suh to meet client demands.
You can find an example of some of my work here at IEEE Spectrum's website. For the August 2009 issue of IEEE Spectrum magazine, I modeled and rendered the first LED bulb image (which was used as cover art) and modeled most of the 3d models in the second bulb/reflective cup graphic.
A .pdf of my work at Bryan's studio is available upon request. Please E-mail me if you are interested.
All of these models were created during my intro 3D Maya modeling, lighting, texturing, and rendering class. Only the Challenger is a rendered image; the rest are screenshots taken from the Maya scenes.

YES THIS IS SO GOOD LISTEN TO IT NOW

grand rapids.
apparently i got drunkenly pushed over late after we played, subsequently breaking a wooden chair. good times.
introduced this to the bandmates this weekend, and they loved it. da ish during the summer, especially on draft.
I’m so excited for this show.
heck, im stoked for this week:
plus the rest of the music/film stuff from nxne. holy shit.
michigan tour was unreal. had wicked chats + hang-out time with family + friends (old and new), ate lots of fantastic food, drank lots of fantastic beer (introduced the dudez to summer shandy), beat everyone in mini-putt, played with some awesome bands at some really fantastic house venues, and explored my home state (even flint), which i still love and miss so dearly. i was extremely happy to be able to come to the mitten and show my buds how great it is. we’ll hopefully be back to play soon, and i’ll definitely be visiting as soon as possible! :)
to anyone in toronto who wants to be restaurant/food/cafe/beer buds - i’m down to try anything pretty much anytime. just shoot me a msg and we’ll try something new!
i really really really really really wanna get back to nyc sometime.
you can probably tell i’m on a bit of a food findin’ kick lately. this big guy is apparently the best chocolate chip cookie in the city, available right up the street from my work at le gourmand. gotta try it soon!
thumbs up to new stuff (for me) from this weekend:
May 19th: Grand Rapids @ The Turtle Den w/Lord Snow, Between Brains, +1 TBA - 6:30pm, $5
May 20: Kalamazoo @ The Fat Guy House w/Natural Disasters, Witch Fingers, Grotted (IL) - 8pm, PWYC

we’ll have tapes with us!
this place serves up the best espresso i’ve ever had. so damn flavourful and pretty reasonably priced. the barista told me yesterday that they have a new blend with bourbon infused into it, so i’ll be giving it a try today. apparently they have a wicked turkish latte too. check out sense appeal next time you’re downtown!
