Hello there!
As many of you may know I recently went on holiday to Turkey with some really good friends. Just before the holiday however I recieved a Holga 120N and thought this would be an excellent opportunity to test it out. I had several types of film with me:- B&W Shanghai GP3
- Ilford XP2 Super 400 B&W
- FujiFilm Colour Pro ISO400
- FujiFilm Colour Pro ISO160
Each one brought about its own set of characteristics and you may be able to tell from the quality difference of the photos. I think my favourite was the Ilford XP2 Super 400 B&W - it seemed to have excellent contrast and brightness, really distinguished. The Shanghai film wasn't bad at all especially at the super cheap eBay price. The Fuji ISO400 also came out well and probably produced my favourite photo of the set, unfortunately however the ISO160 film did not work out so well.
I've uploaded a few of my favourites from the photoset to the bottom of the page.
The rest of the photos are here:
You can also find some photos of me paragliding here:
The holiday itself was fantastic and I hope they shine through in the photos, very much looking forward to next year! Thanks.
haha!
I think I remember seeing something very similar to this ages ago on the internet as a joke but, it turns out it's actually coming to a KFC near you soon - presuming you're American.
I think I'm glad I shall never have the chance to try this heart attack inducing 'sandwich'.
If you are American and have the good grace of trying this on April 12th please comment and let me know of your experience to the hospital.
Cheers ^^
Nom nom nom.
As it's Easter we made nests. Yum.
Even if you don't celebrate it there are still things to enjoy... mainly chocolatey things - I have a Molly Moo Cow as well.
Till next time,
>Marcus
- 1 Acorn or Butternut Squash cut in to 1-2cm segments - Skin left on if it looks nice and thin
- 125g Black Rice - Washed & Dried
- 125g Red Rice - Washed & Dried
- 250g Basmati Rice - Washed & Dried
- 2 Red Onions - sliced finely
- 8 Cloves of Garlic - Crushed
- 2 Red Chillies - Deseeded & Finely Sliced
- Bunch of Dill - Chopped
- Bunch of Parsley - Chopped
- 1 Lemon - Zest & Juice
- 1L Vegetable or Chicken Stock
- 100g Dried Cranberries
- 100g Mixed Nuts - Chopped
- Small Handful Mixed Seeds
- 1tsp Ground Cinnamon
- 1tsp Sugar
- Sea Salt and Black Pepper
- Get the oven on - around 200°C/392°F/Gas Mark 5.
- Put the squash in an oven dish - toss it with a glug of olive oil, cinnamon, half the dill, the chillies and a pinch of salt & pepper.
- Put in the oven for 15 minutes. This will half cook it.... roughly.
- Get a pan that can go in the oven if possible (we couldn't). Put it on a medium-high heat.
- A glug of olive oil in the pan with the onions, garlic, red and black rice. Fry for roughly 10 minutes or till the onions are soft and the rice fragrant.
- Add the other half of the dill and the stock - Bring to the boil and simmer gently with lid on for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 5 minutes in to simmering the squash can be removed from the oven and allowed to cool - toss in the small teaspoon of sugar.
- Remove the lid and stir in the basmati rice, lemon juice, lemon zest, cranberries, mixed nuts and seeds - reserving a little of each for garnish.
- Poke the squash segments half in and out in to the rice.
- Put in the oven covered for around 30-40 minutes - basically till it's cooked and golden coloured.
- Remove the lid and bake for another 5-10 minutes if you want some crispiness (who doesn't?)
- Remove from the oven and sprinkle with the remaining seeds, nuts, cranberries and chopped parsley.
- EAT!
I'm sure this could be served as an accompaniment to some grilled or pan seared fish or meats but, as I've already said, it made an excellent meal in itself.
Yeah, it's been a long time since I've posted anything.
This was too good to not post.
Basically, the guy analysed the frequency spectrum of a kid reciting the Proclamation of the European Environmental Criminal Court. He then used that information to recreate the frequencies as well as he could on a piano, thus a talking piano is born.
It's pretty genius.
Spotify Mobile
You’ve seen the demos, we’ve gotten the approvals and now Spotify is mobile.
Today we’re really excited to announce that Spotify is available to our premium subscribers for the iPhone, iPod Touch and Android platforms. The Spotify app is downloadable in both Apple’s App Store and the Android Market.
We’ve worked hard to bring you the same great Spotify experience you’re already familiar with to your phone. The mobile apps will allow you to take the entire Spotify catalogue and put it in your pocket. You can use our ‘offline mode’ to make playlists available at all times, even when no connection is available, perfect for that ride on the tube or long flight across the Atlantic.
Launching these apps is our first step at going mobile and we’d like to thank all the people who worked hard on making this happen as well as all the partners involved in the process.
We’ve set up a mobile section with more details and we look forward to hearing your thoughts. We know that you’ve been eagerly awaiting this launch and we appreciate the patience – now go out and get that app!
This is a nice surprise.
After weeks of online media making such a fuss about the iPhone/iPod Touch app, they all forgot to mention the Android version. Well, they're both out now and I would love to give them a go, but can I be persuaded to shell out for a £9.99 premium service? I'm not sure, after all I already have a sizeable digital music collection, but I can definitely see the appeal!
Let me know how it works out for you all in the comments!
^^
I got reminded of this little gem that I had on my webspace by Luke today. It's a song a few of us in the house wrote on one of those restless days, just a little after Tom left to have a baby!
Brings back yet more good memories of one of the best years, if not the best year of my life... well.... so far.later, bitches.>Marcus
...or should that be "force of the slinky"...
I've just been having a little spring clean of all the bookmarks I have on Firefox and came across this.
It's pretty fantastic if you didn't know about it before.
Slinkies. Now with added awesome.
Again, this post is mainly for the benefit of my family.
In the previous post we were saying goodbye to our house in High Wycombe, well, this is the new flat in Eastbourne - right by the coast, beautiful views, spacious flat and a great location! I'm sure my parents will have a fantastic time down there and I can't wait to go down again, It's going to be like a mini holiday everytime I visit, I'm sure of it!This is mainly for the benefit of my family, but I'm sure a few of you will miss the house and memories of the Lee's at number 29 The Briars.
My parents and I moved house just over a week ago now. They've moved down to Eastbourne (another post to follow) and I'm currently lodging with a friend for another month or two while I get my own place sorted with friends. I'm going to miss this house, I've lived there all my life, but I know the move was the right decision and the right change of life. So, as a salute to the house here are some photos I took just before we left on the long drive down to the south coast!
Enjoy, enjoy. Some great bits of nostalgia here and some excellent stop animation. And...well... it's got lotsa LEGO with an 8-bit soundtrack. Yeah... sounds awesome doesn't it?
