Hello,
Summer is over and Marissa is safely in her dorm, I have to say I miss her more than I thought I would. It is always hard to say good bye ti your baby. I didn't mention that she is going to UNCG, down the street. She will be home tonight for dinner, she eats dinner on Wednesdays.

She loves homemade pierogi, but I am out of potatoes (a Polish home out of potatoes!) can you imagine! I have some frozen spinach so Iam going to make spinach cheese pierogis, it is similar to what I use for Spanikopia(sp). I use one frozen package of spinach well drained, two tablespoonfuls cotage chesse (you can also use feta, although I use less and watch te salt) one egg you can leave the egg out if you like, also if you are vegan you can use vegan cream cheese with yeast flakes. This filling is yummy. used this in Pizone (sp) also. News in the shop take a look, we have lots of new quilting patterns so take a look! They are going pretty fast so take a look.www.etsy.com/shop/marcellassewing Have fun sewing and quilting!

  1. We will be adding patterns all this week and next we should have A CLASSIC SINGER MACHINE, A TOUCH AND SEW,I will service and clean it by the  by the weekend.
May 12, 04:38 PM

I've been busy working on some sewing machines for repair. Just about finished then I can work on one for the shop. Its a Singer Touch and Sew from the late 1960's, a model 645. I started sewing on Touch and Sews, I took the class at my local Singer shop at the mall in Tacoma, Washington I believe in 7th or 8th grade around 1979. So I am a little biased toward these machines, but I am fair. For about the last 20 years I have also had a Viking Husqvarna in my Studio, so I like them also. In the shop we bought a group of entry level brother machines for sewing lessons, for the price they were outstanding machines.  W v  e bought one for our daughter and she likes it. I use it if it is connected and I need to  make a quick repair. The new entry level Singers are no joke either, from the 80's to the mid 90's Singer had lost it! But I believe some one is listening because these machines are well worth the money! I had better get back to work!

Hello,
I just came home from the hospital a few days ago there is nothing more annoying than being in the hospital on a sunny day. I had too go because of complications from a Gastric Bypass. After three blood transfusions I feel like a new person.

Of course I missed sewing, my projects I am working on a sewing apron to keep my supplies in, We got two patterns from the McCalls Collection and that the fabric I am going to use. I enjoy looking at the fabric so much that I almost hate to cut it! Don't you just love this fabric? The prints are so vibrant! We should be getting more in soon.

Happy sewing and crafting,
Rhonda

Hi,

I haven't written in a few days, I guess I was being a little lazy, okay alot lazy. Thank goodness the weather has cooled down, now its actually pleasant. We are getting ready for back to school. Marissa is going to be a senior this year, it is amazing how time flies. One day she will have her own family to take care of and sew for. It sometimes makes me sad to lose her. Oh well one day I will have grandchildren to spoil rotten and then them back home. Sometimes I wish that I had more children but I guess it wasn't in the cards for us. This year Marissa's class wears black shirts for their uniform. [I think it's really crazy to have the kids wearing black shirts in North Carolina!] I am makinng her some blouses out of batiste so she can breathe. I think all the kids should wear white shirts.[But what do I know I am just a parent!] I ordered a pattern from Friends patterns.com. I'll write about it when I get it. They have some cute jumper patterns also. We I better go and get some housework done so I can sew. Marissa is sleeping over at Laura's house,so I will probably get alot done.

Bye for now,

Rhonda

Hi,
Fridays here and I am still working on my Moms quilt. Hopefully I can finish this one so I can start on a fall Quilt. Moda has a new collection from Kansas Troubles quilters, I can't wait for mine to come in. If you can't wait I found the cheapest price at a store called Beverly's. Kansas Troubles have the richest colors. We have two kinds of fat quarters from their Vine Creek collection in our Etsy shop. We also listed some sewing patterns. Iam waiting for some quilt patterns to come in .Check out what's in already. Until I get Cattails and clover I'll make something from the Vine Creek collection.

Hi!

Today is the 7th day that we have had temperatures over 95 degrees in Greensboro. Its pretty rough. I got up at 7am to make dinner before it gets too hot. Iam making Vietnamese spring Rolls. I'll share my recipe with you. There are many variations on this recipe. Its great because you can basically use any veggies that can be eaten raw. I don't really use a recipe {I just add things}

Vietnamese Spring Rolls

8 oz cooked vermicelli about a cup

spinach or any green that you have

chopped tomato

chopped cucumber

green onion the green parts too

jumbo or large shrimp shelled , cooked sliced in half

shredded or julienned carrot

sliced fresh mint leaves

sliced thai basil leaves optional

rice paper we use the 12 inch ones because we are greedy!

beans sprouts

To assemble wet the rice paper in warm water not too wet because they could tear. Put on a flat clean surface and layer ingredients Lettuce, noodles, sprouts, green onion, tomato, cucumber, carrots,

mint.tuck in ends of rice paper (like a burrito)roll once and put on three shrimps and do the final fold. You should be able to see the shrimp under the rice paper.

For the sauce you can buy bottled sauce in the asian grocery or you can make your own.

I use rice vinegar, lime, sweet chili sauce

My daughter likes hoisin sauce with peanuts. She is vegan so instead of the shrimp I use tofu and if we are out of that she likes mangos in it.

To store these until dinner in the refrigerator! So they are very cold! Enjoy!
