1. The familiarity of faces - Family and Friends
2. Fatty Foods - I want a juicy ass burger and a poutine when I get back!
3. Diverse Foods - Yes I’m asian, and I should love asian food (which I do) but I just want a nice Greek Salad once in a while or some decent sushi!
4. Cheese - people just don’t eat cheese here.
5. Salad - Salad’s here are butt fuck expensive. A salad the size of a small asian bowl would cost around 8 SGD.
6. Driving - this is just me being lazy, because i’m forced to walk and MRT everywhere, it’s made me feel hella healthy
7. Knives - they think it’s dangerous and shit
8. Tissue - they charge us for it here
9. My Bed - my bed here is hard as fuck! Sometimes I forget and I frolic on over to my bed, jump on it and instead of bouncing on my bed like I think I would, I just kinda…. land on it..
10. Uncensored movies - went to see an action film at the theatres. They mute all the swear words, sometimes they get someone to narrate over an inappropriate sentence, or there was a scene of a girl undressing and they just completely cut as soon as she was opening her robe… I thought there was something wrong with the movie.
11. AirCon - I’ve gotten used to the fans and warm temperature. But for those hot days, I just want to walk into a nice cool room! Sometimes I expect that when I walk into my dorm room with the fan… instead a wave of warm air greet me.
12. Understanding People - I don’t understand everyone in Toronto and they do speak English here… but their Singlish accents are bloody hard to understand sometimes!
13. My mom’s back scratches … yeah I said it.
Won falls asleep in the weirdest positions sometimes….
(why is the quality of this picture so shit?!)
Bicycle riding in Puloa Ubin, an island just off of Singapore!
As if cycling for 5 hours wasn’t enough, we decided to get chili crab! YUMMM, another Singapore signature dish!
These are the 2 towers in KL, apparently it’s some big tourist attraction. It was pretty at night but nothing really to see.
After we went for beer, and it was just as expensive as we would pay in Singapore and way watered down… soo disappointing!
On another night we went drinking with some people we met from our hostel. Won had a bit too much to drink that night! Once she fell off her seat, we knew it was time to take Wonniepoo back to the hostel!
STREETFOOD is the best! This was a stall where they charged you by the skewer. You chose whatever you want and you had the option of hot pot or grilling it!
The next day we decided to go find this lake Alex wanted to see and to get away from the dirty streets of Chinatown KL.
We got lost on our way there so we went to a fine arts museum, FREE of charge and found this children’s ‘exhibition’ … probably the most exciting thing there anyway…
This is the beautiful lake we found… -_- it was worth the 2 hour trek there!
THE END. KL was crap and I never want to go back! :D Cheers!
Overall KL, Malaysia was a disappointment… it was dirty and NOBODY knew their directions. Every local we asked for directions would say.. just go straight.
ANYWAY, the first tourist thing we did was visit the Batu Caves!
I climbed those steps! My quads and buns (which I had to explain to Won, what I meant by ‘buns’) were burning!!!
(Alex, being all, da fuq guiseeee, hurry up)… just kidding!
After, we decided we would go to a reserve to have some tea in a treehouse…. but once we got there, we found out it was closed for Chinese New Year! Y’all should’ve seen my face of unimpressed, who the heck closes 2 days before Chinese New Year, for Chinese New year!?!
Anyway, we paid 5 bucks to get in and decided to go hike in the forest.
Once we got out of the forest, I felt something pinch my leg. When I looked down I found one of these suckers sucking the shit out of my leg! LEECHES!
Alex laughed at me, then looked down at his feet to see 5 leeches on him, MUAHAH
After that, we got lost for an hour, ended up going to the owner of the reserves house where they were prepping for a wedding, where they told us the only way back was to go through the trail….
So overall, it was a very tiring and somewhat eventful day…
The trials and tribulations of Maddie’s life!
So after coming back from Thailand, the last night, my legs were attacked and eaten alive by blood thirsty bitchass mosquitos… I think…
At first they looked like this:
But then after … it got worse. The bites began to swell up and my legs made me look like a lumpasaurus and looked like this:
I went to the doctor and he gave me cream and PILLS….
Let’s just say i tried very hard to keep my legs covered up in the sweltering Singapore heat!
I should really be doing my homework, but due to high requests of blogs post and me just procrastinating, here it is!
We booked a tour to see caves and shit, and while waiting we saw this!
Pretty rocks and water!
All the kayakers waiting for them tourists to board!
This was our kayak guy! He was cool, so we tipped him :P
A flower the kayak dude made for us! It smelled like butt, but it was pretty…
The first jellyfish I’ve ever seen!!
On our way back, our tour company put on a magic show for us… this is a glimpse of what happened!
3 words….
Oh
Hot
Damn
Leaving Phuket to an island 3 hours away called Kho Phi Phi!
AMAZING views!
Rocks I thought D-riz would enjoy climbing!
& GUYS, I went snorkelling in this water… oh ma gaaaad!
SNORKELLING was super fun though!
One of the swimmers that worked on the boat, kept thinking I was drowning or some shit despite having a life jacket on…. But he showed us this sea urchin, it was really cool! I got to touch it, but had to be super careful cause it’s poisonous!
THAN, the dude was like “Do you want to see Nemo?” and without hesitating, I said, “HECK YEAH”.
And when I KID YOU NOT, when I looked down! I saw a big clown fish swimming with a small one, in and out of the coral. I legit saw Nemo, I freaking FOUND NEMO.
Then I saw this big as black thing swimming in the water. it was swimming around so fast and I began freaking out in the middle of the ocean. I probably looked like a fool, squealing, kicking, trying to swim away with my sexy lifeguard and snorkel mask on!
BUT anyway, this big ass black thing ended up swiping my leg. Anna said it was a stingray but…. iunno.
FINALLY arrived at Kho Phi Phi!
Only stayed there for half and hour… so lame.
I need to go back.
For dinner we decided to try the hawker stalls near our hotel!
My dinner! Rice and pork! SOOOO GOOD. I usually don’t eat the fat but…. this was an exception.
FOR DESSERT: Coconut icecream, in a coconut with mango, some sweet pink jelly shit an sweet corn! BLOODY DELICIOUS.
Our hotel was right by a Thai Wrestling ring… definitely another thing I need to check out if I go back!
Being on a student budget, I woke up at 6 am that day to bus to the airport!
After a 1.5 hour flight, we arrived in Thailand (sketchiest airport ever) and grabbed some food! I had curry at an Irish pub, made perfect sense to me!
After eating, we checked into our hotel. The hotel Anna was SO worried about. I thought it worked out alright, only paid like 15 bucks a night.
After hitting up a tourist info booth and a number of disagreements with Anna on what we wanted to do, we decided to do elephant trekking! The tour info chick was super helpful! Her name was Da, such a fun name to say!
We had a taxi pick us up from our hotel. Anna was freaking out cause we had to sit in the back of a truck, but I embraced that shit and thought it was wicked cool! Thailand taxi style!
Dumbo’s mama was pretty cool.
Meet Dumbo, we bonded <3
These 2 vicious monkeys were chilling by the elephants as well! … reminded me of my sis aka my SNUGGLE PUFF!
On our way back to the hotel, the driver stopped at the side of the road and let us take pics of the GORGEOUS sunset off Patong beach!
After that we chilled at our hotel pool! Wicked view & a creepy french guy who kept swimming under and around us…. awesome.
The soundtrack to my first 2 weeks in Singapore! Can’t believe nearly a month and a half has past already!
The night before I left for Thailand I decided to chill with them homies, drink and walk around Marina Bay!
I wanted to see the Singapore Lion with the water and shit coming out of it’s mouth.
The whole time we were walking around we could see the water and the lion, but as soon as we got to the lion, the water stopped… BOO.
The trials and tribulations of maddie’s life.
They wanted to yolo it up and go for Singapore slings, but I ruined the fun and said we should dress up one day and go instead! : P
I made my very own Chinese New Year fruit bowl this year!
My mum would be proud!
Gung Hay Fat Choy bitches!!
JUST KIDDING!
Seriously though, Gung Hay Fat Choy!
(Apologies for the early post, as I will be celebrating Chinese New Year, in Asia, in Malaysia, CHINATOWN!)
As Ilyas put it, it’s a FAMILY DINNER!
Alex and I were craving some major western food, Ilyas really wanted to cook and we just wanted to make some western food for the exchange students from Japan!
I made grilled cheese! I went on a search for some oregano and avocado to put in the grilled cheese but couldn’t find it anywhere!! So I stuck with mozzarella and caramelized onion. I thought it was shit but everyone seemed to really like it! … maybe they were just being nice haha
Alex made potatoes and garlic bread! And Ilyas made spaghetti, salad and a veggie and meat dish!
It was super fun but hard work! Cooking in a kitchen, with 3 pots and 2 elements took FOREVER! We didn’t have dinner until 10 pm! But it was worth it!
Finally built up the courage to try Singapore’s star dish, chicken rice…. kinda.
The original chicken rice is supposed be made up of the boiled chicken, I got the roasted!
This Lychee drink is the bomb digitty! Just thought I’d share! :)
This is the pool here at Nanyang!
It’s never this empty. People are usually swimming laps!
Singaporeans are ridiculously fit.
I usually come here on weekends if I’m feeling super bored or lazy! haha

This is the Communication Arts building at Nanyang! I LOVE this building!
For the entire first week here at Singapore, all the exchange students would go up to the top to mingle, talk and drink!
It was wicked! Loved getting to meet people from all around the world! I met people form Spain, Japan, Finland, Germany, France, the US of A, Sweden, Denmark Korea and Australia all from the gatherings we had up there!
After the first week, the gatherings settled down but we still use it for people’s birthdays!
We also plan on going one day and watching the sunrise! I think it would be an amazing view!

My residence is located right at the entrance of the university and I have a bus stop located right behind my room. The first week here at Nanyang, I would say I got a total of 20 hours of sleep. Usually just as I’m about to doze off, the sound of the noisy ass Singapore busses scare the shit out of me! The construction across the street usually starts at 7: 30 sharp and the wonderful birds begin to chirp when the sun rises at 6: 30. So I’m usually up before 8 am everyday, with or without an alarm clock! I recorded a bit of the noise with the shitty mic on my phone, but you’ll get the gist of it!0 plays
