Andrew Yang is a NY-based artist who has created a collection of 70 cm-long handmade stylish dolls called The Kouklitas. Their faces are painted fashion-appropriate and Marc Jacobs, Lanvin, Frankie Morello, Alexander McQueen are some of the labels they wear. Soon, they’ll be travelling to London and Paris Fashion Week.
If i ever get a chance to visit Paris, one of my many stops will be Le Musée de La Poupe to see the Superdolls collection. Even though the idea of an elephantine building of dolls of various styles does evoke a chucky-like scenery in me, it is a must-see place. If you intend to bring back some musee-memories home with you, you can kiss your plan goodbye, because these couture dolls are a work of hard artistic labour; thus, extremely expensive to be photographed.
One particulary good news to end this post is that Roberto Cavalli has a plan to design a doll himself on his agenda. Hope we hear more about it soon.
I discovered this Ted video through a friend’s gtalk status just a couple of days ago. If you know Nathalie Merchant, you know that she is the founder of what I call ‘warming folk music’ mixed with magical lyrics and her fairytale-like voice. Her latest project of 6 years, Leave Your Sleep, is an enchanting genius, as she researched, written, and also collected classical and contemporary children’s poetry of the 19th century. Leave your sleep was released on April 23, 2010 and hit number one in Billboard Folk Albums.
Lay back and enjoy it.
I am one of those people who is discouraged to keep his/her blog updated, when the design doesn’t really touch the personality. It is not any different than finding a right place to say the right thing. Thus, after a long period of theme searching, i have found ‘the one’ that makes me wanna go cyber-active and hopefully that’ll be the case from now on. So, I welcome you right after I welcome myself.
