Millican just released a great looking case to store your point and shoot. Their new Ian Camera Case ($38) is made from 100% organic cotton weatherproof canvas and is padded with Herdwick wool. Inside you'll find a pocket for memory cards and batteries and a brushed cotton lining to keep your camera scratch-free. Link
Nikon is finally jumping on the mirror-less bandwagon with their new Nikon 1 cameras. The line will launch with two cameras, the J1 ($650) and the V1 ($900) which will feature 10.1 Megapixel CMOS sensors and will introduce a new interchangeable mount system which includes a 10-30mm f/3.5, 30-110mm f/3.8, 10mm f/2.8, a 10-100mm f/3.5 zoom, and of course, a F-mount adapter for any existing Nikkor glass you might have. The camera will also feature a high speed hybrid autofocus system, and the new EXPEED 3 image processing engine. Link
Norse Projects and Elka craft a great shell layer for the fall with their Cagoule jacket. The fisherman-inspired pieces comes in navy and a fisherman-inspired yellow that trade the boxier fit of comparable jackets with a more tailored cut. Link

110314 - Luke Caspar Pearson’s work is incredible inspirational to me. I saw his final crit at the Bartlett, and have been following his work since. This is a drawing documenting the development onwards from his final year project of the United Nations Freeport
Clement Valla asked 500 Amazon’s Mechanical Turk users to trace a line. The first user started with a straight line, the next user had to trace the previous user’s trace. I guess it’s no surprise that the last trace doesn’t remind you about the initial straight line. The result is “A Sequence of Lines Consecutively Traced by Five Hundred Individuals”. The cool thing about this is the fact that Clement only payed $0.02 for every trace, so it has only cost him $10.
You can still participate in Clement’s current project “Copy Images using a simple drawing tool“, you’ll get $0,04 per drawing.

Our first religious commission was a wedding chapel conceived to celebrate the first day of a couple’s new life. Our second religious commission had a diametrically opposite purpose: to mourn the passing of loved ones. This premise was the main driving force behind the design, the two had to be complete opposites, they were natural antagonists. While the former praised life, the latter grieved death. Through this game of contrasts all the decisions were made: Glass vs. Concrete, Transparency vs. Solidity, Ethereal vs. Heavy, Classical Proportions vs. Apparent Chaos, Vulnerable vs. Indestructible, Ephemeral vs. Lasting…
The client brief was pretty simple, almost naïve: First, the chapel had to take full advantage of the spectacular views. Second, the sun had to set exactly behind the altar cross (of course, this is only possible twice a year at the equinoxes). And last but not least, a section with the first phase of crypts had to be included outside and around the chapel. Metaphorically speaking, the mausoleum would be in perfect utopian synchrony with a celestial cycle of continuous renovation.
Two elements obstructed the principal views: large trees and abundant vegetation, and a behemoth of a boulder blocking the main sight of the sunset. In order to clear these obstructions (blowing up the gigantic rock was absolutely out of the question for ethical, spiritual, environmental and, yes, economical reasons) the level of the chapel had to be raised at least five meters. Since only exotic and picturesque vegetation surrounds this virgin oasis, we strived to make the least possible impact on the site reducing the footprint of the building to nearly half the floor area of the upper level.
Acapulco’s hills are made up of huge granite rocks piled on top of each other. In a purely mimetic endeavor, we worked hard to make the chapel look like “just another” colossal boulder atop the mountain.

Sick as shit. Black Metal imagery has always interested me. I don’t think I’ve ever tried the music though to be honest; never knew where to start. Actual Pain, a local Seattle brand, also has some striking imagery in the same vein. I have a black/black printed tee of theirs from a few years ago that I wear probably once a week still.
