Anyone remember the Samba Soccer Shoe?  I do and how insanely popular it was when I was in high school in the 80s.  Turns out Adidas has a Samba line of golf shoes.

By now you're probably aware of the one feature that the Verizon iPhone 4 can't do that the AT&T version can. The CDMA iPhone is unable to complete data tasks while talking on the phone. Where as the AT&T version can. What does that mean? Let's say your on the phone with your spouse and she/he asks you to check the time for the movie you plan to see that evening. With the GSM iPhone 4 you can do so without disconnecting your call. With the Verizon version you can't. It seems AT&T is trying to push that point just a little bit perhaps as a last ditch effort to stop customers from fleeing to Verizon. The image above came via an e-mail I just received. The subject of the e-mail is "Feel free to make a call while reading this email."

Here’s a newly spotted feature in iOS 4.3 that I’m actually pretty excited about.  You can now cancel/delete the installation process of an application before it’s completed.  Often times I’ll be out and about and want to download an app or update one.  However, once I begin the process it either stalls out or is extremely slow usually because of a poor internet connection or the app in question ends up being larger in size than I thought.  As it stands now I’m forced to wait until either the app finishes installing or somehow quits and times out (this seems sort of random.)

To remove an app that’s in the process of being installed all you do is enter “wiggle” mode on the springboard (hold down one of the icons) and at that point you’ll notice a familiar X at the upper left corner of the app that’s being installed.  You can then simply tap the X to kill the install.

I though the cold war was over? I guess I was wrong.

When Marvel Studios releases the highly anticipated Captain America movie titled "Captain America, First Avenger," this summer in Russia, South Korea and Ukraine, the movie won't bear Captain America in its name. Instead it'll simply be titled "The First Avenger" Seems after doing some market research the studio decided to make the change.

I guess "America" still ruffles some feathers.

I've read a few articles over the web recently which are mostly "rants" at one of Apple's new Mac Store policy.  Most specifically the fact that if you currently own a piece of software that's now in the Mac App Store in order to qualify for upgrades through the App Store you have to re-purchase the app.

Seems some developers agree with the unfairness of this policy.

Most specifically Irradiated Software who makes Cinch.

If you have not tried Cinch, you should.  It's pretty nifty software that allows you to organize windows easily by dragging them to certain areas of your screen.

If you currently own Cinch and want to switch to the Mac App Store version all you have to do is buy it from the App Store then send your proof of purchase to appstore2@irradiatedsoftware.com.  As soon as they receive it they'll refund your original purchase of Cinch back to the Pay Pal account you used.

Here's hoping more developers follow the same practice.

Fabrix has just announced it's latest addition to it's product family - "The Satchel" Felt cases for the new 2010 Macbook Air 11.6" and 13.3" notebooks. These old school inspired cases are made using industrial grade 100% wool felt and strikingly matched with luxurious tanned brown calf leather.

Taking several design cues from the traditional satchel bags, "The Satchel" is an ultra slim remix that's custom-fitted to the for the new Macbook Air models. It provides all round protection for the Macbook Air yet maintaining its ultra lightweight and durable qualities. The design of "The Satchel" revolves around a flap thats flanked by 2 leather straps, riveted with sets of bronze hardware for that retro chic yet modern rugged look. A specially designed adjustable sling strap comes together with the case and can be attached to the top of the case for full slinging action. If you commute around frequently, this will definitely come in extra handy.

The Satchel is available in 2 sizes, one for the Macbook Air 11.6" and the larger version fitted for the Macbook Air 13.3". The prices start are USD$79.90 and USD$89.90 respectively. The Satchel is now shipping and can be order from www.fabrixcases.com

Check out this video for a look at Apple's all new Bumper Case for the iPhone 4.

As you're probably aware when the iPhone 4 was announced for Verizon the big issue the many case fanatics spotted was the different placement for the vibrate switch between the AT&T model and the Verizon.  This meant that many cases made for the AT&T model won't fit the Verizon.

Apple now has updated versions of their Bumper Cases in stores.  These newly designed cases feature an enlarged cutout for the vibrate switch allowing the case to work with both the Verizon and AT&T model iPhone 4s.  The volume buttons seem to line up the same.

I'm totally ordering this SmallWorks BrickCase which is completely compatible with LEGOs.

The case, which sells for $19.99 comes in black, clear and white.

Imagine the fun creations your could come up with.  I'll have a swing by my mother's house to pick up my old bucket of LEGOs first though.

I'm starting to see ramblings around the web that the iPad 2 might only have a front facing camera.

I seriously, seriously, hope that's not the case.

I for one could care less about FaceTime on my iPad.

Would it be fun? Sure, but I hardly use it now and I've got it available on both my iPhone and my iPod Touch.

I want a rear facing, decent quality camera.  Period.

I want to make the iPad my go to mobile device and without a camera on the back I'm just not sure I can make it so.

I'm all about convergence devices.  Having one device that allows me to snap a photo, write a blog post, or insert it into an e-mail, and the fire it off to its proper place is what I'm after.  While it's true my iPhone can do all that I like I little size when it comes to heavy lifting tasks such as writing a lengthy article.  I just can't do it on my iPhone.  The iPad can do it too but it requires extra steps (using my own camera, uploading via the camera connection kit etc.)

Since CES the Samsung Galaxy Tab has become that device for me.  Mostly due to its smaller size but also because it's got the camera.  I prefer the iPad in many respects, I really do, but can't carry it as my main brain mobile device right now because of it's size and missing camera.

In a dream world, my dream world, we'll see the iPad 2 slightly smaller with BOTH a front facing and rear facing camera.

In case you haven't noticed, yesterday YouTube made the permanent switch to their new home page for all users.  Up until yesterday you could opt to use the new layout but still switch back to the old any time.

Here are some of the features of the new home page design (you must be logged into your YouTube account to see them).
  • Increased focus on videos that matter to you (subscriptions, friend's sharing, recommendations)
  • You can easily filter your homepage to show only the latest uploads from your subscriptions
  • Don't miss anything; if a channel uploads four videos in a day, you’ll see all four - instead of just the latest video
  • Quick access to the inbox when you have new messages or comments
  • Knows what you have seen (videos you've watched are grayed out)
  • Remove any video (hover and click the "x" button)
Some of the other features and modules that were present on the old home page layout have been either moved or removed entirely as well.

One of the biggest issues I had with the Verizon FIOS DVR Manager application for both Android and iOS is that it only supported one device.  The application allows you not only view a complete program schedule for what's on TV but most importantly manage your DVR, set recordings, delete them etc. which is great for when you're out and about and forgot to set your DVR to record.

To set up the app you had to complete a special registration process in order to sync up your handset with your home DVR and once paired you couldn't access your DVR with any other handset until you paired it, thus breaking the original device's pairing.  Basically the app/DVR only allowed for one phone to be used.

Well that annoyance is now gone, at least from the Android version of the app.  An update for the app showed up in the Market Place this morning and the app now uses your Verizon user name and password to log you in when you launch it (it can also be stored on the device).  This allows you to use the app on as many devices as you want which means people with multiple phones, or multiple family members can all use the app together.

I love a useful app update in the morning.

Now where's a similar update for iOS?  Hopefully coming soon.
