The promise that all would find themselves free to say what they had to say, the guarantee of equal justice under law, that governments were formed to respect and protect those rights, that citizens owed governments no respect if they did not – were so great that their betrayal was part of the promise.

~The Meet Market
The third instalment of Felt welcomes three upcoming artists on a
really special collaboration project. Pleq, Hiroki Sasajima and
Spheruleus manage to overcome the sheer geographic distance that lies
between them to produce a really wonderful studio album.
Pleq and Hiroki Sasajima are from bustling capital cities; Warsaw and
Tokyo respectively, which has naturally had an impact on their sound.
Whilst Spheruleus is from a quiet Lincolnshire town in the UK,
surrounded by farmland. As a result of the inspiration drawn from
their different environments, the solo output from these three artists
is all quite different, with Pleq exploring glitch, drone and
sometimes downtempo styles, Hiroki working mainly with field
recordings and digital processes and Spheruleus focussing on acoustic instruments.
Whilst it took several months for the three artists to
craft the final outcome, the listener gets a sense of not a studio
album but rather a live improvised session. The sound is compound as
if they were all in the same room performing together and yet you can
clearly distinguish the three different approaches of sound design,
overlapping and yet never barricade each other.
The tracks are inspired by the language barrier and obviously the
physical distance between the artists, and are named after a certain
time of day that everybody in the world experiences, irrespective of
timezone or language differences. Almost as if they are trying to
capture various everyday life emotions and transcode them to a
non-language, universal and appealing form. The oneness and
togetherness of music.
Throughout this record, Hiroki Sasajima’s field recordings and drones
are carefully adapted by Pleq with the addition of gentle drones and
glitching textures, with Spheruleus weaving in subtle acoustic sounds
using his instrument collection. Together, three far-flung sound
artists have created a short and beautifully cohesive selection of
moods, designed for the turntable and beyond.

There are quiet places also in the mind’, he said meditatively. ‘But we build bandstands and factories on them. Deliberately — to put a stop to the quietness. … All the thoughts, all the preoccupations in my head — round and round, continually What’s it for? What’s it all for? To put an end to the quiet, to break it up and disperse it, to pretend at any cost that it isn’t there. Ah, but it is; it is there, in spite of everything, at the back of everything. Lying awake at night — not restlessly, but serenely, waiting for sleep — the quiet re-establishes itself, piece by piece; all the broken bits … we’ve been so busily dispersing all day long. It re-establishes itself, an inward quiet, like the outward quiet of grass and trees. It fills one, it grows — a crystal quiet, a growing, expanding crystal. It grows, it becomes more perfect; it is beautiful and terrifying … For one’s alone in the crystal, and there’s no support from the outside, there is nothing external and important…

“ All of us have to get rid of our own Ego, the illusory, apparent self, to recognise our true Self, in a transcendental divine life. But if we would not be selfish we must strive to make other people see that truth, and recognise the reality of the transcendental Self, the Buddha, the Christ, or God of every preacher.”
If we are to open our consciousness towards the divine then our consciousness must open towards the perceptions and feelings of the Unity of All which are inherent in its pure nature

Nothing matters more than these meetings that take place while wandering days and nights without planning, without thinking about tomorrow : so far out of reach. It shows the reflection of an incertain future in a society in decline. As the horizon seems to load up with clouds, we had better stay under the sun while it’s still here and while the clouds have dispersed at least for a while. -Empty your head-

Finally , we decided to bury the hole thing. We built a cemetery chapel , a coffin , a book of condolences and a gravestone. We dug our own grave and organized our own funeral march on the streets of Berlin.
We served our funeral feast.
An orchestra was playing while the coffin was carried to the
grave. We invited people we had met through years.Old members and friends , our parents and children , squatters and our lawyers , homeless and politicians , curators and dogs , the press and the vandal squad came to join our funeral. 600 people dressed in black.

Politics is the business of governments and politicians. The world where companies use their economic influence to prop up or bring down governments would be a frightening and bleak one indeed.

Following an introduction to music connoisseurs via the four track EP Hiatus, released on Audio Gourmet, Byron now sets himself yet more firmly into the consciousness of the international experimental music scene with his first physical full-length release, No Minute Gone Comes Ever Back Again Take The Heed And See Ye Nothing Do In Vain.
The album’s mammoth title reflects the epic journey taken to arrive at this point, so let us start from the beginning; With a long lasting love of music, Byron was inspired to wander down a noisier path by artists such as Fennesz and the rest of the Type Records roster. Unlike the legion of wannabe’s and sound-alikes though, Byron was not content to merely copy the work of others. Rather, he used the likes of Fennesz and fellow noise-maestro luminaries as a starting point for his own journey, arriving at a destination wholly his own.
Work began in earnest three years ago, following Byron’s relocation from his native Athens to London and then interrupted by life’s usual vicissitudes. Following more travels, to Rotterdam, to Athens and, finally, Berlin, Byron resumed his craft and record a work both beautiful and at times ugly, coarse and challenging and immersive.
Finally Byron arrived with music he could be proud of and a digital version was made available for consumption. But this was not enough for the perfectionist guitarist and a year later Byron decided to revisit his work and remix the tracks with a fresh perspective and a new insight into what makes these tracks so special. The end result is here, eight pieces of ambience, which cover an entire spectrum of sound, from white noise to gentle tones and everywhere in between. Truly this is a work of exploration, both for listener and artist – an audial journey which ignores known boundaries and exceeds all expectations.

World music thrives on misunderstandings. As a marketing category, it’s a grand hodgepodge. The world-music bins of any well-stocked store are likely to hold field recordings from remote villages as well as pop songs concocted in 64-track digital studios, and practitioners of traditional styles end up next to hybrids of, say, didgeridoo and Brazilian percussion and synthesizer. The confusion may baffle new fans, but it’s true to the history of music, where no category stays intact very long.

But only Nature’s aspect and her law,
which, teaching us, hath this exordium:
Nothing from nothing ever yet was born.
Suppose all sprang from all things: any kind
might take its origin from any thing,
no fixed seed required. Men from the sea
might rise, and from the land the scaly breed,
and, fowl full fledged come bursting from the sky;

It’s getting cold but the feeling is getting warmer… The evening hours calm and mild with the hint of change to come, calmer dispositions with city lights a constant fixture and city dwellers emerging, coaxed to join the samhain celebration.
The endless days of summer wane at last..
We’ve been locked up and run right down been pushed aside for speaking out against ways of division set to hold us down to put us back in line when we step out but i’m not living under them when we could when we could rise above a culture that says we are better than worse than anyone that’s not like us we’ll sing our hearts in unity that we won’t obey or follow hate we stand together we stand with no division and the ways of old will be swept away.

“All of us have to get rid of our own Ego, the illusory, apparent self, to recognise our true Self, in a transcendental divine life.
Finally , we dicided to bury the hole thing. We built a cemetery chapel , a coffin , a book of condolences and a gravestone. We dug our own grave and organized our own funeral march on the streets of Berlin.
We served our funeral feast.
An orchestra was playing while the coffin was carried to the
grave. We invited people we had met through years.Old members and friends , our parents and children , squatters and our lawers , homeless and politicians , curators and dogs , the press and the vandal squad came to join our funeral. 600 people dressed in black.

Politics is the business of governments and politicians. The world where companies use their economic influence to prop up or bring down governments would be a frightening and bleak one indeed.
