FEBRUARY HIGHLIGHTS:
COMMUNION & WORSHIP, Sunday, February 5, at 8:45 and 11:00 Services.
SUPERBOWL FUN AND FELLOWSHIP on February 5. Two parties! For JH and HS and their households in the Youth Room at 5:00 PM. The other party for everyone in the Crosswalk Cafe', doors open at 4:30 PM. Bring your favorite snacks.
VALENTINE'S DATE NIGHT Challenge Event on Feb. 11. Strengthen your marriage by discovering what "doing dating differently" can do for your relationship.

One Church, Two Worship Services
In every worship service at Koerner Heights Church we hope people catch a glimpse.....of God - He's real! He's great! He's here!...of greatness - what we could be with God....of grace - God loves me! Jesus died for me! I can change!There are two unique opportunities at KHC to connect with God, His Word, and His people.The Sanctuary Service - 8:45 AM: A contemplative service in a sanctuary setting with piano-based singing.The Heights Service - 11:00 AM: A contemporary service in a casual setting with guitar-driven singing.Both services feature the same Bible-based, Christ-centered, life-related teaching. Our lead pastor, Dr. Tim Mace, speaks in a way that is clear, thoughtful and enlivened with life-stories.

About KHCKoerner Heights Church gathered for the first time in 1958 with a commitment to reach people in the Newton area with the good news about Jesus. We are still committed to this mission by the power of the Holy Spirit for God's glory. Everyone is welcome at Koerner Heights, regardless of background.We are part of the Mennonite Brethren Churches around the world who are committed to following Jesus from where we are to where He is, and to follow Him together.Our PurposeThe purpose of this church, through the power of the Holy Spirit, is to advance the Kingdom of Jesus Christ to the glory of God the Father.We BelieveIn God as eternal Father, Son and Holy Spirit. God created and sustains the universe. The eternal purpose of God the Father is to create a people who will bring glory to God forever. God alone is worthy of worship.We BelieveThat God became human in Jesus Christ. Jesus came to restore the world because humans have rejected God in disobedience. Jesus taught and modeled the way of God's kingdom. He died on the cross, making it possible for us to accept a renewed relationship with God. He rose from the dead, broke the power of sin and death, and frees us to live in obedience to God's will.We BelieveThat God the Holy Spirit invites all people to be reconciled with God and to join the global family of faith. Believers confess their faith, are baptized, and join in the celebration of the Lord's Supper. Adult Sunday School ClassesAll ages have the choice of electives every Sunday morning. These Bible studies delve into the Scriptures, use video venues, or do author and book studies to learn about practical Christian living. There is a class for adults with special needs offering at-level Bible studies.Ladies MinistriesThe Ladies Daytime Fellowship meets on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 9 AM. Contact Cora Schmidt, Helen Buller.Women's Bible StudiesMeets in the Library, Tuesdays at 7:00 PM. Contact Judy Mace at 283-5553.Another Women's Bible study on Wednesday morning at 9:30-11:00 AM. Contact Shonna Kukula at 183-2454.Senior AdultsMeet for a noon lunch and a program on the 3rd Tuesday each month. Senior Adult Support Team members are Willy and Gerry Penner, Ken and Jan Horst, and Harvey and Mable Friesen.20/20 GroupsAre all about relationships, meeting on Sunday evenings for fellowship and relating the Bible to life. Youth MinistryFor High SchoolersWe have a youth group that meets every Wednesday night, starting at 6:45 PM at the Cross Training Center, north of the main church building. A typical Wednesday night includes music, worship, games, discussion, video-driven lessons, and alot of hanging out. You are always welcome to join us and spend an evening getting to know who you are and what God's purpose and plan for your life is.Sunday School meets on Sunday mornings in the same room where we dig into the Bible a bit more and find out the truths of Christianity and how they fit in our every-day lives.For Junior HighWednesday night at 6:45 is also the time to meet. We meet in the Cross Training Center building, similar to the high school, but we have our own room to hang out in. We have foosball, air hockey, a basketball goal, videos, and even a huge old piano! Come find out what God has planned for your life, and discover what living a life with Jesus is like.Sunday School meets on Sunday mornings for the junior high as well. We meet in the CTC (Cross Training Center) in the same JH youth group room. You are welcome in this class to learn what the Bible has to say about our lives.NEW this year!A Wednesday night youth group for 5th and 6th grade! This pre-teen ministry is designed to meet kids in this unique stage of life as they transition from childhood to their teen years. The 5th/6th grade youth group meets in room 101 of the lower level of the church, in a newly updated youth room of their own. Meaningful lessons, relationship building with adults and peers, service projects, game nights - all are a part of this ministry.

Children
Nursery (birth through age 2)We provide loving nursery care year-round during the 8:45 and 11:05 worship services and during the 10:00 Sunday School hour. Our volunteer-staffed nursery is located off the foyer outside of the Worship Center, allowing for easy parent access.Childrens' Church (ages 2-5)Young children can enjoy story time, singing, and other activities during the second half of both worship services! Dismissed before Pastor Tim's message each week, the children can participate in their OWN time of learning about God, and parents have the opportunity to hear from God's Word, freed from the distractions of caring for their young children. Children's Church is located off the south foyer in room #211.Sunday School 9:50 am to 10:50 amPre-School through Kindergarten: The youngest learn that Jesus is their lifelong friend and Savior through hands-on activities that engage their intense curiosity and openness to learning new things! Classes for two year olds (two by September 1) through kindergarten are staffed by teachers that love the Lord and love kids.Twos & Threes class: Room #6 off of the south foyerPre-K(four year olds)/Kindergarten class: Room #7 off of the south foyerKingdom Village (1st through 6th grade): Children travel back to a Bible times-themed village, experiencing multi-dimensional learning workshops such as drama, art, storytelling, games, cooking, and video. Kingdom Village is a Workshop Rotation Sunday School, where over a consecutive four week period of time, children repeat the same story from scripture, learning through a different workshop each week. Each workshop room is designed to make learning more interesting and fun: create an art project in the ArtisanԳ Workshop, listen to a story in a Bedouin tent in the Desert Oasis Room, orsit on the hillside to watch a video clip of a Bible story in the Hillside Room! Every weekwe begin with a gathering time in the Temple, located in the main courtyard area of Kingdom Village, so come to the lower level (stairs located just inside the south glass doors), and step into a great hour of learning about being a disciple of Jesus!Kingdom Kids Wednesday Night Program

The church is full of excited children each Wednesday night, as they take part in Kingdom Kids! 6:45 pm to 8:15 pm (September through April).Junior Kingdom Kids (Age 4 through kindergarten)The younger Kingdom Kids discover that God made them for a specific purpose and plan,through experiencing hands-on learning centers, laughing along with our puppet friends, Gozerthe alligator, and Teekaboo the turtle, and singing during the Power Praise time!Junior Kingdom Kids home rooms and learning centers are located on the main level of the church.Kingdom Kids (1st through 4th grade)Following the successful model of learning used in the Kingdom Village Sunday Schoolprogram, children spend the first half of Kingdom Kids in kid-friendly multimedia workshopssuch as Art, Drama, Storytelling, Cooking, Video, and Science. The Kingdom Kids learn thesame Bible story in all the workshops for four or five weeks, rotating to a different workshopeach week. In addition to the workshops, there are games and snacks, memory verse activities,and a whole lot of fun to go around!Kingdom Kids home rooms and workshops are located in Kingdom Village on the lower levelof the church.Vacation Bible SchoolFor one week every summer the rooms and halls of Koerner Heights Church are transformed to transport kids into the great adventure of discovering Jesus Christ! From a swampy bayou to the high seas to a bamboo forest......and who knows where the 2012 VBS will take us?! But one thing we can be sure of - the week will be jam-packed full with fun and worship-filled music, meaningful Bible lessons, crazy games, and, of course, yummy snacks!

Outreach and Missions
Reaching Beyond The Walls of Our BuildingKoerner Heights Church supports the Mennonite Brethren Mission Services International as well as sponsoring ten missionary families serving in ten countries, most of whom claim KHC as their home church.In addition, several short-term and summer mission trips have been sponsored for youth groups, college students, and adults to various places in the U. S. as well as to China, Europe, and Mexico.We also support and involve ourselves in local ministries: the Newton Homeless Shelter, Pregnancy Crisis Center, Food Pantry, and the Weekday Bible School Program.
