Silent River Kung Fu

Stony Plain, Alberta, Canada

I started Kung Fu at Silent River at the age of 5.  My dad said when I was born that he wanted his daughter to be in some sort of martial arts, so that she could take care of herself.  And here I am.

Kung Fu has always been a part of my life.  It has come to define a part of who I am today, and who I always will be.   I received my black belt through Sifu Brinker February of 2009 when I was 13 years old, and although I am still young,  my journey through Kung Fu has been long and hard, and will continue to be so for a very long time.  I am currently a member of this year's UBBT 9 group, and I plan to grade for my second degree black belt at the end of this year.

I consider everyone that surrounds me at the Kwoon my second family.  We are always there to encourage and push each other further, lift each other up when we fall, and pat each other on the back when we succeed.  Kung Fu is my home away from home.

I started helping out with the children's classes in 2007, with Sifu Danielle Edge, and Sifu Grahm Robertson.  I loved the fun atmosphere, along with helping the kids learn Kung Fu.  I now instruct the kids alongside Sifu Specht, Sifu Vantuil, Sihing Robinson,  Mr. Bowd and Sihing Kendle and Delaney Embury. Teaching the kids has helped me to grow exceptionally as a martial artist, and as a person.  I love watching them grow, and challenge themselves consistently.

Outside of Kung Fu I am in grade 10 at St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Spruce Grove.  I have many ambitions including being excepted into medical school in the future.  I am an honours student, an older sister, a loving daughter, a loyal friend, an avid reader, an athlete, and everything else I can be.
