Keia Johnson

From as early as I can remember, I've always been an artist, performer and entertainer. Church choirs led to part-time gigs and then working with Grammy winners. When Mary J. Blige threw up her hands and told me I was on to Hollywood during the auditions for American Idol, I knew it was time to pursue my dream full-time. This is my journey.

    Don't Lie To Yourself...

Hello World, I thought I'd take this opportunity to just talk to you for a little bit. In this post you won't find any information about upcoming performances I'm just going to come from my heart. Over the last few weeks, as I've taken inventory of people around me, I've realized that people are comfortable lying to other people but more than that, they are comfortable lying to themselves.  What is it about people who would rather live in their delusional worlds than face the truth that looks them in the mirror every morning. So I figured I can't point a finger if I'm not willing to look at myself and address my issues. What have I lied to myself about recently? Well, I was told when someone shows you who they are, believe them. But instead, I lied to myself. Said I can change them, I can love them out of their bad habits, this lie they told me was for my own good. WHAT? That's crazy! Women, stop giving your heart to men who don't even reach out their hands to hold it. Men, stop letting hard work scare you from chasing your dreams. Men, stop accepting the regular chick because you're too lazy to work for the quality woman. Women, stop playing yourselves and lowering your standards just so you won't be alone.

Adults have disappointed me, and they will always disappoint me because they lie. And if they lie to themselves what makes me think they won't lie to me. They say they'll do something and they don't. I wish we could have the candor of a five year old. If you ask a five year old a question they will just tell you what they believe is the truth. Why am I writing all of this, I want you to take inventory of yourself. What are you fronting about and who are you fronting to? Don't you know most people see right through you and it makes you look just plain pitiful. You're not fooling anyone, not even yourself. It's okay that you're not some big shot producer, no one expects your albums to have sold millions, it's okay that you haven't sold out theaters, it's okay that she hasn't said yes to your proposal yet, we all know you don't own that Benz you're pushing, it's okay that you're single, it's a blessing that you're married, it's okay that you don't have children yet, who cares that it took you 6 years to finish college, we all know he's not your man. Whatever your situation is, it's okay, really. You're only lying because you're not happy with yourself and that my friend is the real issue...your issue is you...Peace.

    Marvin Gaye Tribute Show!

This was an awesome show and I'm so happy that I was able to be apart of it. The music was fantastic and Larry Springfield was the SHOW! It reminded me so much what artists are missing today, true performers and real music. This show inspired me and I hope this little clip will bring a smile to your face. Here is just a little snipet of the show. These are of me singing with Larry Springfield on a few songs. Make sure to check out both clips!

    Miracle March

I'm believing this month will be full of miracles. I've been busy since I got sent home from Idol. Trust me, everything happens for a reason and I am not at all questioning why things happen this way. I have had a lot of great meetings and one thing's for certain, this is my career and will be for a while. So if you only check my website for updates, you need to add me as a friend on facebook and twitter. However, we're working now to add video blogs!!! How exciting! I can't wait LOL! So I wish blessings and a Miracle March to you and yours...
