After looking through my past posts of this blog I haven't updated in over a year, I decided that: (a) my life has changed drastically since then (b) maybe I should have dyed my hair red because I seemed to have been angst-ridden.

Better late than never.

My eighteenth year consisted of the most “growing-up” I have ever experienced in my life. I became legal, graduated high school, started college, and lived on my own for the first time. I said ‘goodbye’ to Manhattan and ‘hello’ to Brooklyn. I met the most amazing people, made the best of friends in such a short time, and remained close to the people who have been there for me since childhood. I was in love, then fell out of it. Heartbreak turned into an even stronger friendship. I lived without rules, but grew closer to my mother. I went on adventures in Barcelona, Vienna, and Montreal. I survived a whole year living in one room with two other girls, then we signed a lease for a 6 bedroom apartment in BedStuy. I cut ties with American Apparel, now sort mail, and learned to live reliant on paycheck to paycheck. I finally got new glasses, got a shorter haircut for a brief amount of time, and didn’t grow an inch.

And on the first day of my nineteenth year, I ate so much food at Benihana that I fell dead asleep at 11:30 and woke up the next day to move into my first apartment. Here’s to a crazy year of sharing one bathroom between five chicks.

May 26th. Four o’clock p.m. I took Betsy to Charles Coffee Shop on Columbus Circle. I had black coffee and apple pie with a slice of melted yellow cheese. I think that was a good selection. Betsy had coffee and a fruit salad dish. She could have had anything she wanted.
