Katherine Stone

Katherine Stone is a parenting columnist and a nationally-recognized peer advocate for women who suffer mental illnesses related to pregnancy & childbirth. She is the creator & editor of Postpartum Progress, the most widely-read blog on postpartum depression. She is also the founder of Postpartum Progress Inc. (http://postpartumprogress.org), a national nonprofit focused on vastly improving the support and services for women with perinatal depression.

Katherine was recently listed among the top 10 mom bloggers in 2011 by Babble. She also was chosen by WebMD as a 2008 Health Hero, recognizing individuals who overcome challenges and help transform healthcare, and won the 2010 Bloganthropy Award, given for using social media to make a difference, as well as a 2011 Media Award from Mental Health America, given for outstanding coverage and portrayals of mental health issues during the previous year. Katherine's blog Postpartum Progress is consistently ranked among the top blogs in the categories of depression and pregnancy/childbirth, including most recently as #8 in Babble's Top 50 Pregnancy Blogs and Psych Central's Top 10 Depression Sites.

Katherine also is a weekly writer for Babble's Strollerderby blog. Prior to that she was a parenting columnist at AOL's ParentDish. She has served as a contributing blogger for PBS' "This Emotional Life" website, and as a guest editor on PPD for BlogHer, the world's top community for and guide to blogs by women. She speaks widely at both perinatal mental health conferences, and about social media at blogging conferences such as Blissdom, BlogHer and Type A Parent.
