My friend and I recently went for a 3-day manga workshop at Japan Creative Centre, which was taught by Mr Seiji Iwami. Even though we were one of the few oldest in the class, I enjoyed myself and got to draw using a G-pen and ink.
I finally completed this today, and it's a little from my usual drawing style. Decided to blend colours using brushes instead of using solid colours. But actually I don't have a fixed drawing style. I guess I'm still searching for my own unique style, because my style tends to change whenever I'm influenced by different illustrators.
I also made it a full body illustration, wanted to avoid creating another one of my usual portrait works.
Here are a few rough sketches that I did today during work. Temporarily working at a bank now, and the job is quite relaxing, but hell boring. But the pay is good, and there's aircon, so I can't complain, right? Anyway, after spending two mind-numbingly boring days at work, I decided to bring my tablet and did some doodles.
I got too carried away with drawing flowers...
It's kind of interesting seeing different people entering the bank, and observing their actions while sketching them out. I should do more of these sketching next time...
I made another entry for my 100 Themes Challenge, "Light".
I realised that I make a lot of portrait illustrations, and wanted to practice full-body drawing. So I drew this (with reference from a stock image, of course):
As you can see, my greatest weakness is drawing hands. I have this problem since secondary school! It is really frustrating because I have very little patience in drawing the details on the hands. So I cropped up the drawing instead...
...TA-DA! It actually looks better cropped up, but I will not avoid drawing hands next time!
I'll be posting up sketches and completed works in this blog, and sometimes random junk that inspires me, I guess.
So, to start of my journey into loving drawing again, I decided to continue on my 100 Themes Challenge. Here's a new entry that I did yesterday, 'Dark'. It's used as the background for this blog.
And here's a colourful and cheerful work that I did while I was still working at my friend's company.
It was supposed to be a scene for an animation. And it inspired me to make my very own short animation. You can check it out here.
That's all for now. Will update on my next entry for the 100 Themes Challenge soon!
