Lots of people were at Millennium Park the day I visited. Best I could hope for here would be a shot where no one person or group stand out from the background. I’ve seen this Cloud Gate sculpture photographed many times, so it was nice to be there to try my own hand at it.
I often get asked to take photos of various knitting projects. This project was no exception. The shawl itself is beautiful, but I was even more delighted at how lovely this photo of it came out.
It was getting pretty late by the time I got past the Lincoln Memorial. I turned back on my way to the next sight and was instantly impressed with how it looked from this angle with all the lights on surrounding it. Pretty impressive indeed.
A little more symmetrical than my usual style but I thought it was interesting nonetheless. These are the fountains of the World War II Memorial with the Washington Memorial in the background.
Left my hotel room around dusk and walked downtown to see the sights. First thing I came to was the White House, this being the back of the building and the side with the closest public access. There were groups of students, tourists, and protesters gathered outside the fence here. The sun had just gone down and the sky still had some color left in it, and we can still see the blossoms on the cherry tree as well.
I did walk around to the front of the white house as well. The fence here was much further away from the building, and the sun had fully set by the time I got around. Still, it’s a good looking shot even with the limited lighting.

Black & white abstract art taken at our local supermarket. For some of us these long rows of carriages have a sentimental value. For others, the patterns and repetition of the steel bars is most attractive.

Cityscape of the Boston skyline at night with the lights reflected in the waters of the Charles River and the Charles River Yacht Club. This image works best in a wide format such as 12x18 or the smaller 5x7. The 8x10 cropping is more narrow but is still a lovely scene.

A martini glass filled and waiting at the bar. Dim lighting plays in the reflections on the bottles and on the glass.

Lovely view from in a Napa Valley vineyard in December. This region of Northern California, known locally as "wine country", is home to many great wineries both big and small. Although the vines are bare and idle for the winter, the grasses are lush and green from the winter rains. In the spring these vines produce young grapes that will mature and be harvested again in the fall to make a lovely red wine vintage.
