- May 2008 - Presentco-Artistic Director / PLaYPLaY creates multi-diciplinary contemporary performances and sound installations for different audiences in theatre and public spaces. The company's work is based on a collaborative approach led by Jamie Fletcher and Dick Bonham. Working as a duo and with a range of artists from different diciplines PLaY has toured all over the UK performing in abandoned shops, train stations, city streets, parks and festivals, as well as receiving commissions and residences from some of the UK's most innovative arts centres and theatre venues, including Greenroom (Manchester), The Arches (Glasgow) and BAC, Battersea Arts Centre (London). PLaY produces a range of inspiring theatre and music educational workshops and participatory programmes in schools, universities, arts venues and local communities. We cover a broad range of topics for all ages and abilities, from performance techniques with disadvantaged young people working towards their Arts Awards, to percussion workshops for people with special educational needs. We have also led a number of artist development and mentoring programmes tailored to the needs of emerging theatre makers, designed to help them push their work into new and unexpected directions. These have included a residency at The Arches in Glasgow working with local emerging artists to produce a show together, and mentoring artists such as Kieran Hurley in the development of new performances.

- Next performance for the band is at a charity gig at HiFi Club in Leeds for Kidz Klub on Friday 1st June. We'll post more details closer to the time but do book it in your diaries, it's sure to be a good night.
- Mulling over some new song ideas at the moment. I have lots of little fragments of melodies, riffs and chord progressions recorded on my iphone. Hopefully this will inspire me and help to form some more new material for the band.
- Great gig last night at the Heads Together Productions & East Leeds FM On The Street Festival. We had a good laugh as always and the crowd were fantastic. We enjoyed our impromptu reggae Beach Boys. Good times.
- We are playing at the East Leeds FM On The Street Festival (Methley Place, Chapel Allerton) on Sunday 6th May, 7pm - 9pm followed by a screening of The Muppets Movie projected on the side of a building. Brilliant! ELFM celebrates 25 Years on it’s parent company Heads Together Productions with on almighty street party where it all began: The Methley’s in Chapel Allerton.

- Just been reminded about the drugs raid at the gig last night. I got pulled out of the gents by a group of policemen with a sniffer dog. It was not as rock and roll as it sounds, all I had in my pocket was two plectrums and £2.37.
- We had great fun playing tonight for East Leeds FM. Lunchtime Disco Club were brilliant and bonkers; they had party poppers, seagulls and a bubble machine. Fab! Thanks to those who made it out. Good times.

- City Varieties Youth Theatre Company rehearsals for Return to the Forbidden Planet are going really well. We still have loads to do but the young people involved are fantastic and working really professionally. It's gonna be a great show!

- Great evening with CVYTCo (City Varieties Youth Theatre Company). Tonight was the first time the youth theatre company have done any work in the City Varieties Music Hall (we normally do all our rehearsals and sessions at Leeds Grand Theatre). It's been great getting the young people on the stage practicing some important performance skills as well as having the opportunity to look around the beautiful building and explore back stage. With a large cast of over 70 young people aged 8-21, we have to work very creatively in order for the show to work in this particular theatre space. So it's important to show the young people what the space is like and how it feels to be in there. The next time the all the youth theatre company will be at The City Varieties will be when all the set and staging is in ready for production week. CVYTCo will be performing 'Return to the Forbidden Planet' at The City Varieties on 27th & 28th of July.
- And we're back! After what seems a short but lovely Easter break we are back to work. We've had some great meetings, discussions and planning sessions already this week in preparation for CVYTCo's summer musical at City Varieties and the Christmas show which will be taking place at Howard Assembly Rooms (I know Christmas is 8 months away!). So anyway, next week the CVYTCo sessions/rehearsals start for our summer musical 'Return to the Forbidden Planet'. With only 12 weeks of rehearsals before production week we certainly have a lot of work to do. That being said we do have a fantastic company of young people who are very dedicated. It's gonna be great! Watch this space for a glimpse into how our rehearsals are going...
- We've had a fantastic playful time at Theatre in the Mill over the last few weeks. It was great having the lovely Dan Bye join us over the last week. It's always good to have an outside eye in the devising process. Got to say a big thanks to the staff at the venue and for those of you that made it out to our little scratch performance on Thursday. We are very excited about the way things are moving forward with our show 'We Can Be Heroes', I think we are starting to grasp what it's all about and what we need to do to make it a brilliant 70 minute theatre show.

This week all four groups from CVYTCo performed a fantastic showcase at Leeds Grand Theatre. We have been so impressed with the level of skill and professionalism these young people have shown. It's been a pleasure working with them and we cannot wait to get stuck into the big summer musical rehearsals after easter. Boom!
