Spettacolo.

We internet beings all have a list of our favorite websites that we want visit almost every day. These websites may either be our source of news, entertainment, social media or simply our email service. We check these websites regularly, and most of us have this list bookmarked in our browser. But doing this on your iPad’s browser is not only cumbersome, but also seems cluttered. Thankfully, there’s an app for that.
Favomatic is an app for iPad that lets you maintain a list of your frequently visited websites and presents these in a gorgeous UI. Each website is presented as a button, tapping which takes you to the site in your native browser. You can specify the interval (minutes/hours) between each visit to the site, so the button stays inactive for that period. Here’s how the developer described Favomatic:
Think of it as a to-do list that helps you in that daily routine. It not only reminds you to check out something you were about to forget but it also makes sure not to check it too often.
Favomatic comprises of Collections — a collection of websites you want to club together and Clicklets — launch buttons for each website. The UI uses a wonderful color scheme and the pixels are indeed beautifully placed. The app also pulls in the website’s favicon automatically when you add its clicklet to the list.
Favomatic is one of those apps that isn’t a necessity, but it certainly makes things easier and better when you start using it. In my little conversation with the developer, I was told some fantastic new features are being worked on and an iPhone version is also on the cards. Favomatic is FREE with Ads on the App Store, and ads can be removed for 99 cents.
Foodspotting, as the name suggests, is another micro social network that revolves around the food you eat (or want to eat) in your day-to-day lives. But unlike the others, Foodspotting boasts that it is about the dishes rather than being about the restaurants. So you recommend individual dishes visually via beautiful photos instead of the whole restaurant. We’ve seen this concept applied for generic things in apps like Oink and Stamped already.
Foodspotting has just released v3.0 of their app for iPhone & Android and the designers there have sure managed to pack some delicious pixels in there. The app presents you with photos of dishes from various restaurants that you can either mark as Want/Tried/Loved or dismiss that specific item, dish or the place itself. The app also lets you submit your own spottings to the service. To find new dishes, you can either browse Nearby, Best, Latest or via the integrated Map view. And yes, Foodspotting also has local guides within the app, if you’re into that sort of thing.
Foodspotting has had an app for WP7 for a while now, but these features were only recently introduced in the iPhone and Android apps, both having pretty much the same UI. In my opinion, the WP7 app if far more refreshing and beautiful than these platforms. The BlackBerry version is coming soon.

I tried… I tried to come up with a clever title for this app, but I couldn’t. It really is a simple Google Analytics App for iPhone. And in this simplicity, lies the beauty of this app.
Audience takes a very minimal approach to your Google Analytics data. It pulls only the relevant numbers and displays them on the screen. You have Total Visitors, New Visitors, Total Page Views, Unique Page Views and Page Views Per Visitor displayed in a nice big font on the screen. The background color is chosen at random and it displays multiple sites in different screens that you can swipe through. You can jump through Today, Week & Month’s stats. Take a look at the screenshot above. Really, there’s not much to it. But it’s that perfect solution for when you need to look at the numbers and ignore all the other clutter.
Audience is available on the App Store for just $0.99.
Here’s another beautiful cocktail recipe app that has me thirsty and craving for some spirits. Back in August, we took a look at The Cocktail App — a stunning and beautifully designed iPhone app that had me go, “Holy mother of Arkham Asylum Batman, I’ve got to put this up on Beautiful Pixels. There are so many deliciously yummy pixels put together in this app, that it’s not even funny.” Today, I came across another app of the same kind that is equally beautiful, and may be a better app overall for most of you.
Designed and developed by Distinction, a mobile app design and development studio based in London and Budapest, Cocktail Flow is a gorgeous collection of pixels that’s available on iPhone, Android and even Windows Phone 7. In fact, the app was available on Windows Phone 7 and Android before it arrived on iOS. The app features some amazing screens and little animations that make you smile. You can browse by category to pick your drink or select from the liquor you have in your bar and it’ll tell you which drinks are possible. I really like the way the bottles are laid down on the wooden shelf.
The app is FREE on iOS and Android, but costs $2.99 on WP7. You can download it for your phone from the links below.
I should mention here that I first discovered Cocktail Flow on a cousin’s Galaxy Note and was going to feature it here, glad that there was finally a beautiful Android app to write about. Unfortunately, I later found out that the developers had also released it for iOS and WP7.
No, this isn’t another contender who has just joined the race for super cheap (or free) Flashlight apps for iPhone. In fact, Lighty has been around for a long time now. Lighty is brought to you by the same developers who designed and developed the very hot BeachWeather app.
So no surprises here that Lighty is beautiful too. Lighty is a no-hassle flashlight app for iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S. That is, it does one thing and does it very well. When you launch the app, the light turns on and it shuts off when you quit the app. There is practically no UI to deal with here. There’s only a gorgeous power button in the centre of the screen, just in case you have to temporarily turn the flashlight off. Double-tapping the screen alternates between a dark and light scheme. The app is fast, so there’s virtually no delay in launch.
Studio Dalton has made Lighty available for FREE on the App Store today, so ahead and grab it already. There’s no reason not to have this app in your library.
Update: The app is back to its original price of $0.99
