Ian Wilkinson

Ian is an experienced software practitioner and director of development. It is a career characterized by the delivery of solutions that have had immediate and lasting value, while promoting a working environment that sought to ennoble all collaborators.

The experience has extended to software R&D (Hewlett-Packard Laboratories, Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, and Canon Research Centre Europe), service engineering and delivery for Media organizations (TiVo, ITN, Endemol, and Razorfish), high-performing solutions for Financial institutions (HSBC and JPMorgan Chase), and a number of internet start-ups.

Ian has repeatedly demonstrated his ability to form highly capable teams (occasionally geographically distributed), and to deliver against extreme timescales and requirements. For the service delivery, Ian has always taken considerable care on technology adoption, preferring robust and correct solutions rather than being slavish to technology trends. This care extends to the engineering process, where Ian strives for development environments for the engineering groups that afford “being minimally invasive, with maximum utility.” Especial care towards the environment is rewarded with improved quality, and improved project management.
