Excellent resource I have come across thanks to Twitter. This is a Mapmaker resource from National Geographic. It enables you to select a country and download the map you have selected. Also you can customise the maps to look at climate, relief etc. Click on 'Go to interactive map' for more. Should be very useful

Some scientists in Japan have been carrying out a study to see if there is actually a link between animal behaviour and earthquakes. Mice, fish snakes and cats amongst others, are being monitored using pedometers in their collars to measure movements.
However, not everyone is convinced and some say that if this was really the case, this would have been utilised before in order to help predict quakes.

For many years, as a result of governance by the military regime Many parts of Myanmar (Burma) have been left largely undeveloped. However, as the country opens up, tourism arrivals increased by 50% after elections in 2010 that saw a largely non-military government.
The government and investors are looking at developing the infrastructure in order to attract more tourists. The government has started that it will protect the very things that attract tourists – such as heritage sites, but develop the country to cater for more arrivals and boost the economy. This will be a delicate juggling act which many destinations have tried and failed at achieving before.

Plans to generate 12 more hydro-electric power dams in Malaysia has led to conflicting views about the ambitious construction projects.
10,000 people have been displaced in one area, to make way for a dam and reservoir. Those people have complained about water quality and employment issues in the areas they have moved to. opposition groups have alleged that corruption is rife.
However, those in favour state that these projects will create employment and will stimulate foreign investment.
