Fernando Barbella was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. After realizing he would never be an airplane pilot because of his defective vision, he decided to study for a Communication Science Degree at Buenos Aires University. He began his new media communications career in 1996, as an account executive (a career move luckily truncated on time and migrated into Content Responsible) in a small software developing company. After playing the role of Creative Director at OgilvyInteractive Latina South, in December, 2007 he became the Interactive Creative Director at BBDO Argentina, then he moved to the Experiential Director role. The agency became the most awarded in the interactive arena in the last 3 years. In June, 2011, he became the Executive Creative Director of DDB Spain.
He led campaigns and developed the integration of digital tools in strategies and integrated communications for brands such as Pepsi, Gatorade, Nike, Doritos, Audi, Lay´s, 7up, Motorola, Coca-Cola, Sprite, Dove, American Express, IBM, Lenovo, Huggies, Kodak, Panasonic, FIAT, Santander Bank, Brahma Beer, Hellmann´s, Nestle, Telefonica and SAP.
Fernando´s work has been recognized at the London Festival, New York Festival, Ojo de Iberoamerica, FIAP, the Webby Awards, Festival de Gramado, the International Business Awards, the Argentinean Creative Circle, the IAB Awards, the Argentinean Direct and Interactive Marketing Association, the Deustche Welle and the Advertising Age’s "Book of Tens".
Always in the mission of “preaching” about the benefits and new trends of the digital communications industry, he led for two years in a row the marketing taskforce at the local chapter of the IAB, is a member of the IADAS (International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences). He has taught classes and seminars about creativity in new media in Canada, Spain, USA, Argentina, Chile, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Uruguay and Venezuela.
