Staff Accountant at Synovate, Inc
Accounting | Greater Chicago Area, US
My professional experience is varied and interesting. Back in the 20th century, I was working in assistant manager roles in the food service industry (with companies such as Ben & Jerry's, Starbucks, and local food chains). During college, I was a computer lab monitor and assisted students with design programs such as Photoshop, as well as supervising the lab usage at night at a downtown college (SAIC).
21st century experience includes working at several downtown Chicago offices such as Capps Digital/Leo Burnett as a production support digital artist; meaning that I scanned in a variety of ad hoc artforms, be it the more polished photograph or slide, or a sketch on a napkin. Communication with many different designers and artists was key to deliver high quality digital files of artwork for placement in last minute proposals as well as finalized proofs. Other duties included photo retouching and a lot of color corrections using Photoshop.
After working there for 3 years, I found work at Mintel which consisted of scanning documents in a quota and deadline based framework. This involved managing many images and working with an image database in a teamwork based format. Other skills included technical writing: summarizing direct mail offers in several different sectors (mortgage, insurance, credit card) and recording figures such as rates and percentages in the Comperemedia database. Other areas included mail room and sorting and reporting to various meetings discussing new ways to up performance for the department.
Most recently I have been an accountant at Synovate, Inc. At this international corporation with many offices I record incoming checks, manage the invoice number system, balanced month end agings, and writing collections letters. Other duties include sending boxes to storage which include journal entries, cash receipts, invoices, and other financial documents.
