I’ve had it with gmail.
Not the core service or underlying technology, but the front end of the web version as well as (and especially) the mobile app (both ios and android).
It just sucks. I need to write about and explicate this in more depth and more clearly, but there are three areas that repeatedly drive me crazy when i use gmail:
1- I can never, quickly, find the reply, reply-all, or forward buttons.
2- When (as often happens) a thread grows, I find it impossible to find items within a thread that i am looking for — even attachments!
3- Why even include a default auto-fill when i am typing in someone’s name or address, if there is not sufficient intelligence to queue up the most recent match that has been USED, by me or a sender — regardless of whether i’ve bothered to manually add that address to my address book?
These aren’t fringe features or infrequently occurring problems, these are central to using email! It is just a terrible, terrible fail. The kind of absolute infuriating lameness that makes me want to heap on the vehemence a la Keith Olbermann (“worst person in the world”).
Which i’ve now already done.
That’s all i can say for now because between the extra 15 minutes it took me to get around each of the above this AM, and the five minutes it took to write the above, i’m already behind in my day.
